I drove 2000 miles with 9 out of state tags. I got a deer at 200 yards I got a deer 400 yards . I stumbled on one hiding at 30 yards. I got a deer at 200 yards. I got a deer at 625 yards,

Whitetail shot at 650 yards from sitting position using bipod for rest to get above yuccas. 7mm Remington with 4-14 SHV F1, with 180 ELD-M. Herd clipped but only needed one. Bullet entered left front shoulder and quartered back into lungs. My best ever long range sitting shot on big game. Deer never moved. Summer time steel shooting does pay off.
Mule deer buck shot at 380 yards from prone using backpack. 7mm Remington with 180 ELD-M. Bullet hit rib, fragmented and did not reach opposite side. Deer died instantly though.

I just shot the first legal 3x3 I found here in Washington, with my 25-06 Remington and a 115 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip. The rifle has a 6x Leupold and a Montana sling. It's a good general-purpose setup that has brought me quite a few mule deer, certainly not a specialized long range rifle! The shot was only 212 yards, which was very convenient as the rifle is sighted-in at 200 yards. Used a wide-leg sitting position, no rest. Couldn't go prone, too much tall grass between me and the buck.
The meat has been excellent! I was hunting solo. Quartered him up afield, and hiked out with a pretty heavy pack in the dark. Enjoyed still being able to do that.
I'll hope to post a full report on our hunt later, but got this 161" 4x4 at 560 yards. M70. 6.5x284, 143 ELDX, Bushnell 3-12x44 LRHS. Took three steps and then fell over. ELDX passed through both lungs and two ribs.
Shot taken from seated position on shooting sticks from my hilltop hide.

Nice bucks - congrats!
You can say that again. That ;mulie is a hammer!
It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.
Axis deer (~200 yes with a OEM .270 Win) Barren Ground Caribou (~200 yds with a Rem 700 in .300 H&H) Mule deer (~100 yds with a Rem 700 6.5x284) Elk (528 yards with a Rem 700 6.5x284) Antelope (~100 yds with a OEM Kimber Montana .223 Rem)
Still have a deer tag in Montana and an extra cow elk tag in Wyoming.
No real long shots here, but i have : A buck antelope w/ .300 H &H A doe antelope w/ .270 A doe antelope w/ .340 wea. A mulie buck w/ .300 H &H A whitetail buck w/ a .25/06 A whitetail doe w/ .300 H & H.. Still have 2 elk tags if I get the energy to go.. Pheasants right now..
The H & H is a # 1 that I just got around to using.. Elk will be later if at all.. Birds are fun.. I can pick them up and put them in my pocket..
Clark, you really did some traveling!!!! I used to do that for deer, but my dogs don’t like deer hunting.. They beg for birds.. Have fun..
I had lots of tags left, but I had a freezer full worth of meat, and my toddler grandson was on the phone with baby talk, trying to get me to come home. We take out the garbage together, it is a big adventure.

Thanks. Love the LRHS, had it on two rifles and two muzzleloaders over the past few years and really love it. Wish it was an inch shorter and 4oz lighter... but you can't have everything

This year I took my Mchorter 7mm ST using 180 VLD's at 3150 fps and shot antlerless at 677 yards and Mule deer at 417 yards. I dailed the Leupold VX-5 CDS to shoot the elk, dailed back to zero to shoot the deer running up a ridge, aimed in the antlers, hit the top of the heart.
I used my dads old 270 win this year for deer, still works! Took a buck in Colorado at 620 yards with it, 170 EOL. Can't post pics from the phone anymore. Nothing special, last day I could hunt buck.
Totalled my truck from a red light runner. Broken bone in 3 places in my foot. Nailed a monster Percocet and a few tramadols. You boys are making me cry. Great hunting. Well, there is always next year.

I shot a 5x4 Colorado elk at 489 yards with a Gunwerks RevX in 7mm RM and a 168 Berger. I center punched him right behind the shoulder in his bed and had to finally put him down at 539 yards. There were a couple of other shots in there.
Elk at 60 yards. 18” RAR in 7/08 wearing a Leupold 3-9, Shooting Factory Federal 140 Barnes. Bullet broke both scapulas and exited, bull went about 30yds.
Mule Deer buck at 547 yards. Rem 700 in 7mm Rem Mag in a McClassic, SS 3-9MQ in Low Talleys. 160 Accubonds at 3k fps.
Shot from the saddle where the red arrow is. I had been shooting rocks at 560 the day before... the thought of missing this buck never even crossed my mind....
You better pray to the God of Skinny Punks that this wind doesn't pick up......
Antelope, 85 yards with a Sako 75 deluxe in 300 WBY, Deer at 100 yards with a Pre-War Model 70 Carbine in 270 WCF, elk at 200 yards with Sako 75 Deluxe 300 WBY, and a porcupine at 80 yards in a tree with Winchester 1895 40-72...
I haven't had to shoot far YET this year. I shoot antler-less only. So far, I have shot two doe antelope, two white-tailed does, three fawns and a big mulie doe. Nothing has been over 200 yards. I have one cow elk and three deer left to get this fall, so we will see if I have to stretch it a bit, before I am done.
My go-to rifles this year are my .260 and 6.5 Creed. The exception is one deer that I shot with an '06 that I inherited from my wife's dad. I just wanted to kill something with it to say that I did. .

Nelson desert bighorn ewe, 547 yards, negligible wind, after 5-mile spot-n-stalk. Ruger M77 re-chambered in 270 Weatherby Mag, shooting Nosler 140-grain Accubond handloads. 2 mil-dot holdover on Weaver tactical 5-20x50 scope (First Focal Plane). Semi-prone on sidehill: tripod with Bushnell bino rest for front rest, backpack and clothing for rear rest. Fun hunt, good eating.
I took a nice 7pt whitetail with my Ruger Hawkeye in 264 win mag topped with swfa 3-15X42 an loaded with H1000 an the hornady 143 eld-x 375 yard shot. Can someone tell my why I can't load pic's from my photo gallery from my iPhone
I picked up a LAW Professional 280 AI with a Swarovski Z3 4-12X50 bt scope this summer and it has quickly became my favorite rifle. I didn't have time to work up a load for it, but used nosler factory 140 grain accubond ammo and got it dialed in on the swarovski turret.
I was able to take this 181 1/4" public land mule deer with it at approx 120 yards with the 280ai. (actually was my 2nd idaho deer on my 2nd tag)
My first idaho mule deer was a 20" 3x4 with the 280ai at 269 yards.
Lastly I took this Fall Idaho bear at about 220 yards with my 375 H/H shooting 260 nosler partitions.
Here is a picture of the LR tool of choice - even though my furtherest shot was 262...lol
Shots - 2 fired (each rifle): killed the “hell out of a target”at 300 yards ( backyard range) prior to hunt ( bullet impact < 2”” Center to Center)

Wow - some great photos of great hunts here guys! Thanks.
I didn't think about it at the time I posted my 3x3 mule deer buck, but earlier in 2017 I did go to Alaska and take a wolf and a grizzly in the arctic. Great spring bear hunt!
Wolf was at 250 ish yards.
Grizzly was at about 40 yards.
Both with a 30-06 Rem 700 with handloaded 200 gr Nosler Partitions and, an old 2-7x Redfield.
I missed a coyote at a bit over 700 with my 250 AI 700 SA with 117gn. Hornady interlocks in Montana..didn`t give enough wind. DID shoot a Pdog at 425 using the same set up, Only one...because I WAS deer hunting after all. Sure was fun tho.
Nothing as big as some of the deer on here but I was able to finally get a buck this rifle season. The last day, the last hour and was surprised when the buck walked into the hay field. Only 210 yards and luckily he was feeding with 4 does. I had to take a couple minutes to settle down, heart was racing!! Northern Michigan on the farm.

Just a little one horned cull buck so far. My county is a one buck county so anything else after this will be a doe. This one was DRT at 410 yards via 22-250 with 75gr Amax. Used a garage assembled chassis rifle with a 4.5-18 LRTSi. A little quartering to. Watched him fall in the scope.

Thats one of my fears, thinking a buck has just a stub and blast him to find he broke the side off. But it happens at times. These days I tend to use a spotting scope more and more if we are going to toss one out a bit longer than normal just to make sure.
We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....
It was broken, but for his age he should have been more. Still firmly in the cull category in my book.

California Bighorn Sheep-160 7/8 in; 84l Montana, 2.5-8x36 Leupold, .30-06, 180 NPT-57 g H-4350, 80 yards, These are a once in a lifetime draw here in Oregon.
Whitetail Doe Deer; Ithaca 37 12 ga, 20 in rifled barrel, VX-2 Scout Scope, 12 ga Hornady SST Lite Sabots, 147 yards.
No joy on Buck Deer or Bull Elk. Pretty poor success rate in the unit.
I took a monster cow elk at 840yds with my 260ai 140rdf combo. One shot bang flopped.

Right in tight to 260 big game animals; most fallow does and red hinds culls, with some chitals and broken horn rusas and a hailed out busted up chital. Those were split between a completely factory .257 Weatherby/ 4.5-14 VX3 LR with B&C and .300 Win on a 700, McMillan Rem Hunter, 26" fluted Lilja with 6.5-20 Mark 4. The .257 was used mostly from 3-690 but there where some shorter ones. 115 Ballistic tips for the longer stuff, long shot was 690 on a fallow. Also used 110 Accubonds, 110 grain Sciroccos and had basically a train wreck with 80 TTSXs. The 300 was used mostly from 500 and out, with some very close shots on reds to determine if the 190 LR Accubonds would blow up. Exits were the norm though. Long shot was 1000 on the nose and performance across the board quite impressive. Also used some 215 Berger VLDs with a hurriedly worked up load. Vertical was getting bad much past 600 so stayed inside that, Terminal performance was fine, perhaps not as violent at close range as the LRs but they sort of merged together as the range stretched. Or at least that was the lasting impression.
Closer to home 100 yard bear with 195 ELOs with my Defiance/ McMillan/Frozen Fiber 28 Nosler 8.5-25 Mark 4, 80 yard spike elk with a Rem 700 LSS rebarrelled with a Gaillard to 270 Weatherby and 130 Sciroccos 4.5-14x 56 VX3 L, and an 80 yard 7 point whitetail with a Montana 1999/ Accuracy Innovation/ Benchmark .300 Win with 185 grain Classic Hunters. 70 yard wolf with 7-300 Win and 180 Berger Hunting VLDs, stainless Sako 75/McMillan Sako Hunter, 26" Hart/ 4.5-14 Hart.
3 more deer in North Carolina with Kimber Select 7 Rem and Cooper Western Classic in 7 STW, both with Ballistic tips and 4.5-14 VX3s w CDS.
It was a pretty good year for longer shooting.

I never got to pull the trigger this year. I set up and planned the hunt though. Drove 300 miles and put another 20 in my jet boat to get to camp. Put my boy in a position to shoot his first big game animal. He took this bull at 297yds with my Tikka T3x .300wm using 180gr Federal Fusion factory fodder. They were bedded down and we couldn't get closer. I made a shooting lane for him so he could take a good prone shot when they stood up. I've never had a more successful and enjoyable hunt.

Holy smokes, Model70 guy!! You had a great year. That is wonderful to be able to shoot and experience that many animals and see how your guns and ammo perform. Was wondering about the "train wreck" with the 80gr TTSX's out of your 257 Weatherby? Too fast for them or did they explode? Good info on the 190 LR Accubonds, going to give them a try in my 300wm. Thanks

Missouri whitetail, mature 8pt, 495 yards. Taken with my 15 year old Browning Abolt II, ‘06. Loaded with cheap ol 165 gr. Hornady interlock BTSP, pushed to 2830 fps. Can’t get the pics from the IPad to load. 😡
