I paid 4K for a really nice one at the James D. Julia auction in March 2013. That might give you a clue as to it's value. I can't find pics of it right now. Mine has the wrong rear sight. David I looked it up on The Julia website and yours is a beautiful SRC! Quite a bit nicer than mine but I didn’t pay $4000 plus $600 buyer’s premium. I’m happy with my purchase as I don’t see me parting with this one until I die. Which might be sooner than I had planned if I buy any more Savages this year (my fiancé seems to think we need Money for a wedding!?). Silly girl.
It ain't like it used to be but it'll do.

What a modern, forward thinking (and well to do) deputy sheriff would carry turn of the 20th century - Savage 1899 saddle ring carbine in 32-40, Colt’s Automatic Pistol in 38 AC and various accoutrements.

How bout the leather that goes with the old Colt? Can you find a maker's mark on the holster?

It’s a N. Porter, Phoenix, Arizona. Newton Porter arrived in Phoenix in 1895 and was in business there until the 1960s. This holster actually fits the 1900 model Colt (as well as the 1902s).
It ain't like it used to be but it'll do.

Got a letter from Savage Historical. Saddle ring was sent to Shoverling, Daley and Gales Inc of New York in April 1913. Not the most exciting news I have ever heard but it was worth the chance that it had a more interesting history.
It ain't like it used to be but it'll do.

A lot of Savage 1899's went to Shoverling, Daley & Gales. They did a big business in them.
“ The Savage 99 Pocket Reference”. All models and variations of 1895’s, 1899’s and 99’s covered. Also dates, checkering, engraving.. Find at www.savagelevers.com

I have kept records on the three scarcer Winchester calibers in 1899 Savages for about 10 years. Now have a total of 297 verified models/serial numbers. 118 25-35 (16 25-35 SRC) 82 32-40 (8 32-40 SRC) 97 38-55 (7 38-55 SRC)
Would like to add this one to my records. Bill
