I just bought a RAM diesel pick-up. It needs new tires badly for our winter roads. Any suggestions on a tire that will be good in snow and ice and mud, but withstand the weight of the diesel?

I have liked Nitto Exo Grapplers

Any E rated tires will handle your pickup. Chances are that the stock tires are 265-70-17. I suggest 245-75-17. They're the same height and weight capacity. They handle better and leave a little more room for front chains. Last month I put a set of Cooper AT3's on mine. We haven't had any weather to test them yet, though.

Take a look at the Hankook Dynapro AT/M. They wear great, have good traction, and were considerably quieter than the Cooper AT3s I have on now.

Another Vote for the Nitto's. Have them on my Duramax. Work great. Also recommend Toyo Open Country M/T. Very similar tire.

My next set will be the STT Pro since they discontinued the STT.

My brother just put a set of the Pro's on his dodge 3500 and they do good on it even tho its weight is maxed out the GVWR.

Had these on my previous Ram diesel 4x4. They were great and the wear was really good. I had BFG AT/KO's on it before, and while that tire lasted very well on every other vehicle I had them on, they only lasted 30k on my diesel.

The Firestone transforce that came on my new Ram are wearing very poorly and are close to the tread wear indicators on the rear tires with on 18k on them. Will either replace with the Dynapro's or the Nitto's.

Our local dealer sells a fricken ton of the Hankook Dynapro AT/M's.

We have them on two F350's and on my mom's F150.

They are a pretty good tire for sure.

How are the Michelin Defenders on snow and mud? I have Defenders on my Suburban for summer driving. I dried them in shallow mud. They were not very good.

Don't know if you bought new tires or not yet. However, I have a '15 Ram 2500 with 275/70-18's and went with Goodyear Dura Trac's. I'm not really a huge Goodyear fan per se. However this is the second plow truck I've put them on and really like them. They're great in the snow and are really good off road while hunting too.

Good luck, NYH1.

Had the same tires on my 03 Cummins, replaced them at 65,000.
Bought the same again.
Good tire.

Stepson has these on a 92 f250 diesel 2wd. They are shot under 50K and he drives like a little old lady. Never hauls anything.
