So Santa is bringing a new spring piston this year. I know these two are really the same gun but unsure which one to get. If memory is correct, the R7 came without sights and was made for use with a scope. Just got off the phone with straight shooters and the Beeman now comes with open sights just like the HW30. They now have same barrel length too. Beeman was slightly shorter before. The boys will be shooting with open sights and eventually probably a Williams receiver sight. So which one to get??

I'd opt for the HW50s in .22

The thump and easy handling of the .22's makes shooting air rifles more fun to me. And the 50 has just enough more power for the bigger pellet.

I bought the R7 and never regretted spending the extra money. The Rekord trigger is way better and helps you find out just how accurate the rifle can be. With the H30 you will likely never see it's full potential because the trigger pull exceeds the weight of the rifle.

Google R7 and read all the good things about them. They are all true.

The rekord trigger is available in the HW30s. I have one and love it. I don't see where the Beeman gets you much more for the money

My bad. I'm thinking of an older gun, or something totally different entirely. Seems like back in the day Beeman imported an entry level gun that was cheaper than an R7 without the Rekord. That was when Beeman had sole distribution rights here in the states.

Given two identical guns with different branding, I'd get the less expensive. I've got an R10 with Beeman on the compression tube cap and Weihrauch on the butt pad, so that gun has branding covered both ways I guess.

You're not necessarily wrong, the base HW30 doesn't come with the Rekord trigger but the HW30S does. Most of the Weihrauchs imported are the "S" version that include the Rekord.

Get the Beeman, a couple extra bucks now and you will have the nicer rifle with checkered stock. Get it in .177 for sure. The R7 is not a high powered rifle and the bigger pellets will not have much velocity. I sold my R7 to Prouddad on here a few years ago, he and his daughter have enjoyed it as much as I did. Wonderful rifle, extremely accurate and easy to shoot. Have often considered getting another but my R-9 is very similar and more powerful.

Centershot and others I appreciate it! Yep I believe I'll go with the beeman. As a kid I always enjoyed reading about Dr beeman and once owned a R9. Thx again
