Best wishes to all the Minnesota boys out in Zone 1 trying to fill those tags. And to all the Cheezers as they head out too. Michigan's going hunting right now too, and Pennsylvania and Ohio open up right after Thanksgiving. Good luck boys.

We didn’t make it to the woods today. A little girl decided she needed to meet us 2-weeks early. Not without difficulty from mama and baby, but we are on the right track to all being well.

Pam filled her tag this morning! That breaks an 8 year deerless streak for her. Good job Pam! The girls are getting it done this year at camp chickenbuck!

I feel like I'm in a snow globe out in the stand this afternoon. Huge flakes of snow fill the air. It's beautiful!

This is truly blessed news, Tom. My most sincere congratulations. I know it's a huge sacrifice on my behalf, but if you guys want to name her Jeffreyetta, that's fine with me.

Congrats, buddy. That .243 oughtta fit her just fine in about 11 years.

Glad to hear the Chickenbuckers hung another one. Congrats to Pam and the rest of the 'Buckers. A good report, and a fitting end to a good season.

We do! Amelia.
She had already brought her brother good luck. He popped a big doe this afternoon.

You mean you didn't go with Jeffreyetta?

Congrats Tom.

My wife and I went up to Emily to pick up my deer at the butcher up there. I saw more deer on the back of trucks today than I did coming home the first weekend. Congrats to those able to fill their tags on the last weekend.

Congrats Tzone, I like that name you picked out.

Our group went deerless this year. Could of shot 4 bambis but we passed. My daughter first year was good, was a trooper with the weather. And saw 2 deer the one day and another deer the next day. Didnt have good shots but she was pumped.. Was fun to see her get excited, she said she cant wait till next year. So all and all was a good deer season for us...

WI season is off and running. I passed on a spiker right away this morning. I mean right away, 6:50! The saw a longer spike chasin a doe around later in the morning. I saw a doe this evening right at dark. So, I have seen 6 deer in 2 days. Jack has seen 2 and shot one. Pretty good weekend. Back at it bright and early tomorrow. Bucks only from here on out.

The sun set on a calm evening with temps at around 17 degrees, crunchy snow covered ground may have slowed deer movement. Joey and I were the only 2 in deer stands Saturday night, Sunday morning and Sunday evening to close out the regular firearms season.
We had a great deer season, only 2 deer were taken for our camp. I passed on 5 antlerless that gave very nice shot opportunities, a couple of others I jumped during some sneak hunting (not sneaky enough, lol) No decent shot opportunities but they bring my total to 7 deer that I saw this season. That probably sounds horrible to folks that wait for groups of deer to come out to fields, dozens at a time. But this was pretty good for the heavily wooded area we hunt.
I believe Joey saw the most deer, over a dozen total for sure. He also did the most shooting, lol!
The deer numbers seem to be rebounding. I'm so glad that the 2 deer taken were by the camp ladies that do such a good job of taking care of us all with all their cooking and cleaning etc.
I've never considered the idea of a deer camp MVP before, but if I was to name one for 2017 it would be Melissa AKA Missy AKA "Muffy". She filled her tag on second weekend and she still made the trip up north to deer camp on the 3rd weekend, just to spend time with us at camp. We all thought that was very cool and it was much appreciated.
Congratulations to the girls! Some if us will continue into muzzleloader season which starts this coming weekend!

Congrats again Tom!

Congrats to the Chickenbuck girls too!

I processed my deer this weekend. I cut the backstraps in half and am going to try them on the smoker. Has anybody here ever done this? I would hate to dry them out and ruin them.

OH and tenderloins are still amazing btw! I wish the whole deer was one big tenderloin! lol
