Not good. Seems like the thing that no one wants to talk about regardless of where it occurs.

That'll be good for a whole new level of govt bureaucracy and the resulting increase in intrusion for hunters, i.e. mandatory sampling, etc.

After all the hoopla died down in Wyoming, nobody seems to care anymore. I am sure that people have been eating infected critters long before it was discovered, and I suspect that they continue to do so now. Nobody that I know gets their animals tested after the game and fish department stopped collecting samples and testing them for free a few years ago.

Complicates transport to other states though, for non-resident hunting.

There is some evidence to suggest that it might be transmissible to humans. The prions that cause the disease also mutate, so even if it's. It transmissible now, it may be in the future.
Regardless not much that can be done about it now. Wisconsin tried the kill an all approach and it didn't halt the spread so it was inevitable.

Part of the problem is that the prions that cause the disease are slow to breakdown in nature and can lay about on the ground, brush and carrion waiting to be ingested by other animals and spread in the environment.

Mine too. Montana is "on the list" now for prohibited transport.
