I guess this can be considered a collections now. Two 243's, one with a K date code and one with a J date code (but later serial by 50), a 270 and a 30-06. All I need is a 308 to complete the 1959 set.
The top two are 243, then the 270, then the 30-06 with the brake.
Uh-oh I just admitted I have one in the other post. Not interested in selling it. David

Of course, to be complete you need examples of all of those without the Monte Carlo stock also.

Lloyd, my buddy is a lefty. Another one of his friends asked him if he wanted an old Savage backward rifle? Turned out it's a left hand 110 in 308. He said it's very accurate, but a little beat, so he turned it into his bad weather gun. All I know about it is when he wanted to scope it he was told it's an early model. I saw it once and it didn't look all that beat to me. I can get the serial and have him check for a date code. If he wants to let it go are you interested? Joe.
Nice! Under-appreciated, like many Savages (I don't say that like it's a BAD thing....).
Definitely under-appreciated or at the very least not overly inflated when it comes to price. My other vice is 5 screw S&W N Frames. Those take a bit more cash.

I've never seen a first year non-MCL. That would certainly enlarge the collection and be some fun searching.

I'd be interested if it's a first year lefty. I'm guessing the serials are between 17000-27000ish with the K code on the barrel (or possibly a J code if they still had spare barrels from 1958).
They came in both monte carlo and straight stocks.
So halfway done.
Very nice!

Technically that's the 110MCL - Monte Carlo Left handed model.
Maybe in 1959 they didn't have a 110L, the non-monte carlo stock? Maybe you have a complete set?

Nice find! The 1960-1962 catalogs are the same way, listing the normal 110 and the 110MC for right-handers, but only the 110MCL for left-handers. Looks like all early 110 left handers will be monte carlo.

Interesting looking at those circa-1959 110s and thinking about their competitors. The Model 70 hadn't yet gone post-64 as had the Remington 721 not morphed into the 700. To me, the 110 looks like it was intended to sit in the middle. Not as nice as the 70 but perhaps a cut above the 721.

No question that they have achieved "collectible" status, especially in the kind of condition yours are in, nice set!
I have an early LH110 (..er, 110-K..) cut checkered stock looking for a new home, bumped and bruised field-grade, featherweight barrel channel, pretty sure it's for a long action, but it may be the intermediate 4.5". I'll dig it out if anyone needs it. I'd trade for firewood-class 99 stocks.

That's the Jan 7, 1960 pricelist. The Jan, 1959 lists only the 99EG, 99R and 99F in 250-3000, 300, 243, 308, 358 (no 99RS listed). Also lists the 110, 100MC and 100MCL in 30-06, 243, 270 and 308.

That was my guess, early`60. If I remember correctly the 1960 catalog lists the EG and R but only R in price sheet. I think they were selling off just inventory on those two.
...back to the op'g....I have 2 1958 MC's in 308...

The price list was glued to the 110 page (page 3).
I never paid attention to left-handers. How hard are they to find and get?

Left handers in 270 and 30-06 are fairly common in my area, I see 4 or 5 of them every year, I see right handed ones more often. They are a very good looking rifle in my opinion.
Me experience is that I don't see them very often at gun shows. But they don't seem to priced at a premium probably because the demand is low for them.

Finding the early 110's is trickier. They are out there, but I often walk past them.

It took me a couple years to round up all four calibers via gunbroker. I’ve seen a number of first year 30-06’s, a few 270’s and 243’s and just two 308’s.
Took the 308 and 243 out to sight in their "new" scopes. I put a Leupold M8 4x on the 308 and a Weaver K3-60B on the 243. I also got a Leupold M8 4x sighted in on my 99F 308 (also 1959). Once they were good to go at 100yds it was over to the 400yds range to see how much noise I could make. All three rang some good steel.

That's pretty good, so accurate You can make 400yd head shots!
