Thanks gentlemen!

I mounted the Burris 1x4 and chamfered the barrel this morning and will touch up the blueing and clean the barrel in a bit.

I have a pound of Lever' and will give that a try with the ProHunter's tomorrow.

thats nice. that looks like an SC which is my favorite of the old time marlins. that A with the monte carlo was the deluxe model. that stock may be a bishop.

I went to the range yesterday and shot four shot groups with a fifth to check velocity, I didn't have data for Lever' and the ProHunter's so I stopped at 43.5 and that was 2081 fps, groups steadily grew tighter as velocity went up and she is definitely ready to hunt. I fired one over the Magnetospeed earlier today with 44.0 grains and it hit 2120. Hodgdon listed 2116 with Lever' and 200 FTX but out of a 24" barrel so I loaded some more between 43-44 grains for the weekend and to check the drop at 200.

It was stiff after re-assembly and it turned out to be the detent button in the lever, once that was free and lubed it functions real nice and slick.

I have not had as much fun with a lever gun since my 1994S 44Mag wink

I bought a Marlin that had seen rust and someone had taken steel wool to the barrel and mag tube. The stack at the tang was cracked and the rear sight was bent and tilted. I had seen in the gun shop a few times, but never bought it, until one day it was marked to....$125.00. I bought it. I did the repairs, bluing work, and installed a new rear sight on it. I have other Marlins (all real Marlins), but this one is special.
