Up for sale is my 1894 Krag. Full length, military configuration. The wood and metal are in pretty darn good shape. The bore is excellent, that's why I bought it in the first place. I've shot it a few times with cast bullet loads for my 98 sporter and it shot fantastic, but I still always grab the sporter, when headed out the door. It has a Redfield,no drill sight with hunter knobs on it but doesn't need to be part of the sale. I'm asking 900 for the package or 750 for the rifle. Could one of you fine folks post some pics for me?

The diamond on the bottom of the rifle is about two inches long and made of ivory I believe. The story I got when I bought the rifle was that two brothers, that just came back from WW2, went in together on a ranch in New Mexico. They both bought surplus Krag rifles to have for critters around the place. Right away, while sighting in, they realized one was far more accurate than the other. The rifles claim to fame was a 200 yard shot on a jack rabbit - I think it was a bet. Thinking he had something special, he inlaid an ivory diamond, to make it his own.

Love the 30-40 Krag rifles. I still have the sporter my father bought from the NRA in the 1930s for $4.75 as I recall him telling me. It is quite accurate with the receiver sight.

My Grandad bought one of those surplus rifles in the 30's also. He said all he could afford was the trapdoor Springfield, it was the cheapest. He fired a couple rounds and found he didn't like the recoil, so he took to shooting 410 shotgun shells through it for squirrels and such.

It's got a lot going for it - antiquated tactical, super handy CA legal loading gate, long rang precision sight, chambered in the hard hitting 30-40 ultra, kinda short Krag round.
