I do not want to read all the posts on the difference. Mil quad or Moa quad. Thought I had saved all the info from the threads but apparently did not.

I like the mil, but have not used the moa. ALMOST got an moa on the sale, but caught it in time and changed it to mil!

I am thinking about trying one of these scopes on a Vanguard 30/06. What base/bases should I buy to match the low rings? I want to mount the scope as low as possible and have enough room to mount the scope as to not have any problems with eye relief. Open to suggestions

Open to suggestions Keep in mind they're Picatinny and won't fit the many Weaver bases available. These are about as low as possible and give you a couple options fore and aft..... https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1...1500-weatherby-vanguard-reversible-front

And they're even a little cheaper at SWFA.

Why the preference for mil? I have been running MOA/MOA, which seems to be one less thing to calculate, though, I wouldn’t consider myself a long-range shooter in that 500-600 is the outside of what I usually do.

Range, adjust, shoot either way, I'd think. But with mils you work in tenths and whole numbers. It's EZ. I like the MilQuad reticle a lot.

DMD, I like MIL/MIL because I have found MOA/MOA more tougher to find. However if you can find an MOA reticle and turrets it should work just fine. Dave

Go mil and ditch thinking in inches.
A moa quad would have me counting hash marks a lot more, though I'd get used to it quickly.
The mil quad has a hash at the half and a diamond/large hash at every mil. Pretty intuitive (even for my pea brain) to cut stuff into tenths as well.
Screw you! I'm voting for Trump again!

I have 3 SWFA scopes with the mil quad reticle and really like them. But for my old eyes, the reticle could stand to be a little thicker....

MILs by a mile....
A buddy screwed up awhile back and bought a 10X MOA instead of a 10X MilQuad for a trainer .22. WAY too busy as most MOA reticles.
Like Hig said....ditch the thinking in inches. When you start using the reticle as a measuring device and start thinking that impact was .3MILs low, 1.5 MILs right...whatever... it all becomes way easier. Same can be said for MOA as impact relation goes, but I prefer MILs in everything and have ditched the last two MOA based scopes I have.

Whether you choose MOA or Mil you are still choosing a slice of pie, just a different size. I am with you, I prefer MOA too.

I should probably measure my groups in mils. Shot a 2/10ths mrad 5 shot group at 100 m. Or, is that a 35/48th moa group at 100 m, er, yards......fuggit, I'm used to moa.
