They say Semi auto. Look at the safety at 1:15. It does not look like full auto but it is three position.

i remember landing at ankara turkey during the first gulf go-around and the turks had a machine gun nest with a belt fed aimed right at the steps of the plane as we got off. and off to one side was some turkish version of a bradley with some quad gun aimed at us. all looked like they were manned by teenagers. made for very respectful passengers.

LAPD got lots of M-16s after the Hollywood shoot out as military surplus. Had to convert back to semi auto. Not sure if would look like it still had a full auto setting after that

I thought AR 15s killed people. Why would you want to have a bunch of AR 15s at the airport? Too dangerous.

First trip out of the country in 1987 was thru Amsterdam. Eye opener to see airport security walking the aisles with (IIRC) what looked to be full stocked, full auto H&K MP9's. For the last 10 years, Mexico airports always have Marines in full military turn out gear patrolling with something like FN FAL's or SLR's... A few years ago, flew into Torreon the day before Hitlery was supposed to arrive to declare victory on the War On Drugs. My contractor had a week's worth of food in a duffle bag that the drug/bomb dog signaled. He spent 20 minutes with a Marine officer going thru every container of food. Mean while another Mexican Marine stood with an FN FAL at low ready just a few feet away.

My opinion... About time that we got serious with regard to U.S. airport security. The fight has come to us. Touchy feely does not work. I am O.K. with properly trained, visibly armed, security in U.S. airports.

I think the auto-sear requires an additional hole in the receiver which I didn't see.

Back in the early 80's I was on a Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Johannesburg, with a stop in Nairobi where I was getting off. As we landed armored vehicles sped up alongside the plane and escorted it to the gate. As we deplaned we walked a gauntlet of Kenyan soldiers armed with whatever they used at the time (G3's?)....they were at the low ready and they weren't smiling. Apparently all South African flights were under threat of terrorist attack at that time and the Kenyans were determined to keep anything from happening on their territory.

The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me.

Here in Canada, (as per the media) an AR-15 used by law enforcement is called a "carbine". If I own one, it's called an "assault rifle".

Looks like we will need them in our churches as well.

It is time for our LEO's to be trained and ready to deal with what the terrorists are bringing. I have seen auto weapons in foreign airports and on the streets in foreign cities. It didn't bother me a bit and was almost expected.

If I'm ever at a mass shooting similar to what has been happening recently, the best I will be armed with will be a handgun. I hope the LEO's that are either present or on the way are going to be better prepared to deal with the situation than I will be. If carrying an AR every day is what it takes for the LEO to have the AR at hand when he needs it, then tell him to carry one and give him the training he needs to do it responsibly.

Many AR receivers have the three positions marked, even though they are not configured for auto fire.

My Spikes lower is marked with a full auto position, but the safety won't go there.
