Can the saddle ring be removed and replaced with a screw?
I'm looking at 2 different rifles that have the saddle ring, and It just looks like a noise maker to me.

I tied a piece of leather string around mine on my 1886 and it stops any noise.

I put a receiver sight on my 1892 and the saddle ring had to go. No loss as I do not ride horses.
