I ran some numbers using the 162 ELD-X in a 7mm-08 compared to my current load using 140 Partition. The 162 looks better, on paper at least. Has ànyone tried this bullet in a 7mm-08?

Not the new bullets but still have some of the old Amax's. I'm using 41.5 RL15 and getting 2650 fps in a 20" barrel.

Wondering the same thing except I've been looking more at the ELD match. Anyone else using the 162 X or match?

Started a friend out reloading awhile back for his 7-08 with 162's and tried Reloder 15 from the mag box and 17 kissing lands. The 162's whoop ass.

Was he using the X or Match? The Match has a better BC. I have less than a box of Amaxs left so will be trying some soon.

I'm getting some 150 ELD-X bullets for Christmas. I'm gonna try them first and stick with the 7 Rem Mag with the 162. I'm willing to sacrifice weight and BC for better velocity. The -08 case just doesn't have enough room.

Depends on how far you are shooting as to whether it is worth it, but the 162s will have less wind drift than the 150s even in the 7-08. For shots under 400 yards, the 150gr ELD-X is probably a great choice though. It has a very good BC for a 150.

I'll be getting the 162gr ELD Match for Christmas for the 708 and 280AI.

You can put the numbers in here and compare the 150 and 162 for the 708 to see the difference: http://www.hornady.com/ballistics-resource/4dof

He probably cornered the market on the Amaxs and hasn't had to switch to the ELDs yet.

I'm using the 150 ELDX out of my 7mm-08, 162 for the 7mm Rem Mag. From my hunting party:

7mm-08, three bucks, three shots. One 6x5 bull, 407 yards, three shots, first shot killed him, we shoot until they fall.

7mm Rem Mag, one buck, one shot. One big 6x6 bull, one shot, one big cow, one shot.

Very pleased with the performance.

Pharmseller, That sounds like they're working very well. Congrats!
I think I'll give the 150's a go, If they shoot good I'll be happy. If they don't I'll try the 162 or 150 Nosler B/T

Thanks for the reply.
