Budget is < $700.00 firm. What do you suggest? Why?

Nothing like stating a "need" and then immeadiately knocking out the only scopes that will actually work....

To be fair, a scope that actually worked wasn't one of his stated requirements.

With your perameters, I would look for a used Zeiss conquest 4.5-14x44 with a rapid z-800 reticle. Simple, quick and customizable to your loads. I use mine on a 6.5 saum and love it. That said I really want a Nightforce....😀

I know, right? Maybe all those deer, elk and speed goats I’ve taken are “un-dead.” grin

What could be a sadder way to end a life than to die having never hunted with great dogs, good friends and your family?

Seattle,
A scope that I had very good luck with on a variety of rifles, including a 270 WSM Kimber was the Kahles AH 3-9x42. Though it has been out of production for a few years, I see a fair number of them on eBay these days. I found the scope to be very durable, good repeatability on the windage and elevation adjustments, and would hold zero. Planning on buying one again myself, but am holding out for one with a TDS reticle.

I would like to respectfully ask if you routinely shoot and practice at 600 to 800 yards as the OP has said he wants to do? I mean did those scopes you mentioned get dialed back and forth a couple times a week at the range or did you just set them one time 2-4 inches high at 100 and go hunting?
