Do they make marbled edges anymore? Does anybody deal in them?

Thanks ahead

I didn't think they ever did, I though all edge fill stocks were painted.

They will only do a Black with gray marble for edge fill stocks.

What does the marbled edge come out for weight?

Anybody have a picture of the black-gray marbled edge?

You'll be adding expense to get the Edge and then after adding gelcoat, you'll be 3-4 ounces less than a straight swirly. I'd pass and apparently the market has agreed as it is not a common option.

Yep, it likely won't save much weight.

So, it sounds like I'd be looking at:

24 ounce--painted Edge
26 ounce--non-painted epoxy-filled Edge
28 ounce--edge fill gelcoat
32 ounce--standard fill gelcoat

Do those weights sound about right for comparison?

They don't really like shipping those unpainted edge stocks any more. Something about the UV causing issues I thought I heard. If your number one priority is weight, go painted edge. If you want a swirly, go standard fill.

Got this Edge unpainted, glassed it, filled in around bolt handle slot, taped the bedding and returned for paint. They don't charge extra for that. They will charge for taping the bedding, I did my own, saved around $38 IIRC.

I have three McWoodies, the other two std. fill. This Edge fill has the prettiest pattern.

Have the unpainted edges started to decay or something?

The painted Edge on the HS Presicion SPL weighs 26 oz.

IIRC, the Mauser McWoody Edge is around 28 oz.

Both give the rifles a forward feel, which I really like.

This M-700 with 23" Hart, (std. Rem contour) was a trade. Sold the stock it came with, got a Hunters Edge in the raw thru Rick here on the Fire Store, did my thing, bedded, etc. Sent it back to McM for paint. 26 oz with a forward feel. 7-08 tack driver, my current WT rifle.

Do you include McWoody in the "marble" category?

Dirtfarmer, I like the look of the half inch pads a lot. Nice looking rifles.

Guess I got an Edge McWoody before they went to just the black marble. Mine is OK, none of the black graphite showing thru. Sorta makes it even more special.

Thanks for that link.

Yeah, in non "kickers" like these, half inch Decelerator gives all the grip and non slip I want.

The HS is a .240 Wby, the FN is a Swede (Shilen), the Bobby Hart M-700, as noted, is a 7-08, all mild shooting rifles. I use 1" pads on big boomers.
