Checked my sets at lunch today. Only put out 8 and did pretty well. Perfect suitcase catch. The next stop also had a marten. Finished off with a mink.

Ping pong balls for the win. Once you've wrestled everything else in life is easy. Dan Gable I keep my circle small, I’d rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.

Thanks guys. Not a big fan of setting blind with no snow. Might go check them again on Friday. Depends on the weather, I don't like to leave them sitting unchecked if it isn't cold out. I'll post some pics when I get them boarded. Trying to process a couple of deer right now.

I have a friend in Hoonah that trapped about 30 marten last year.
Good luck !

Good luck ! I use 120's. No clue what they went for, I haven't shipped any to auction in a number of years.

Checked them quick at lunch. 3 of my sets had been messed with, but no catches. The critters will probably be holed up due to all this rain we are getting.

Nice work! I'll be waiting this thread. I set some foothold traps for coyotes for the first time this year. Checked this morning and six sets had been worked but my traps were frozen. Next time. Good luck and I'm anxious to see your next post.

Looks like an easy way for a bucket set without having to mess with cutting the bucket. Wonder if there's a flower pot size appropriate for a body grip for a coon?

Picked up one very soggy marten today. Caught it in a mink set which is unusual, haven't caught many using fish for bait.

Not sure, what coni's are you using for coon? None yet as I've never trapped. Most suppliers list the 160s as the smallest recommended for raccoons.

A lot of states have maximum sizes you can set on land. A quick search on google and it looks like your max size for body grippers on land is 7.5", which allows you to use 220's.

It's been slow but steady. I am trapping a pretty small area, it normally isn't cold enough to let them go without checking for more than a day or two. The wind can really howl down here and it can make getting to the beach really difficult. I am hoping to cover a little more area next year. I only have a couple of weeks left but I will more than likely pull my sets early, I have enough to get a nice hat made so I am happy with the season.

I love Gusto! Smells like money to me, haha! Ran the line for the last time today. My catch has fallen off and I am happy with the season so far so I called it good. Only had action at one set, but either the marten climbed on the spring and knocked the trap out or snow falling from the trees knocked it out. Got a free meal. Always next year. Nothing on the trapline so I went and jigged up some dinner instead.

Hi FishinHank,
I would love to see a picture of your "so simple it's brilliant" flower pot sets mentioned earlier in this thread. Those pictures seem to be deleted. I am a new trapper and looking for a flower pot idea.

My 2011/2012 journal was pretty fun.......4 wolverines and a lynx. I caught 3 wolverine this year, all big boars but lynx are making a fool of me. I pulled my entire wolverine line on Sunday and reset yesterday in lower, better lynx habitat. I want at least one lynx this year and have 2 separate lines out specifically for them now.

Good luck, I hope you get one! The one we got was way out of its normal area.
I really miss trapping wolverines
