I had also thought about French grey, and might still go down that road....

It's been in the white for over 30 years now with no issues, so I figure it's probably okay. I'll just oil it as usual after each use.

I recently had a custom #1 built and had the metal case colored. I tried to post pics but technology and I don't get along very well. All the metal was done including rings, skeleton grip cap and metal but plate.

I got as far as getting the pictures to the image gallery but can't get them to here frown

I have no idea how these pics got here but there are pics of the receiver on the image gallery. I'm still trying to figure out how to do the pics. The smith is a local one Central Michigan Gunsmithing in Mt. Pleasant Michigan. The rifle sports a 24 inch tapered octagon barrel and is chambered in 7MM-08 and it's scary accurate.I went all out on this one custom quarter rib, case colored metal but plate, island swivels. Needless to say I'm very pleased. This smith has done a half dozen rifles and a Parker shotgun for me.

Are the case colors done in house or does he ship them out?

And how to do it:

It helps to have two windows open with the campfire up in each one so you’re not going back and forth from the image gallery to your post but you can do that as well if you want.

1. In the image gallery, click on your picture to expand it.
2. Right click on the expanded pic to bring up a small menu, then click on “Copy Image Location” - that records the image link temporarily.
3. Go back to your post and use full editor.
4. Click on the Insert Image Link icon, 9th from the left next to the smiley face.
5. Put the cursor in the little window that comes up and hit Ctrl-V, or you can right click in it to bring up another menu and click on Paste. Holding the Ctrl Key down and then pressing V is the shortcut for paste - your image link will be inserted into that window. Don’t worry about the highlighted http://, you want to overwrite that anyway since it’s already included in the link you copied in step 2.
6. Click Ok and you will see the image link inserted in your post surrounded by .

And that’s it. Repeat as needed to put more pictures in. Once you do it a couple of times it really takes less time to do than it does to read these instructions.

Thanks Jim. One of these days I'll get the picture posting figured out.

He send it out for the case color work out. I think its in Illinois but I'm not sure. I can find out if you wish. They have a pretty quick turn around time and have done several rifles of mine.

Ha, thanks Chris. I think I'll stick to my guns and leave this one in the white. I have another build in the works that will be color cased for sure!

You really need to post pix of yours to show it off.

It is incredible!
