I was at the LaVista, NE, Cabela's today (12/07/17) and saw that they had several boxes of CCI .22 WRF 50 round boxes of ammo on the shelf for $13 per.

I didn’t know that anyone was still making it.

Yes, both Winchester and CCI make it on recurring basis. I have a good supply of both but prefer the WW version. Shoots better in the old 1890 by a fair margin.

A few decades ago I had a Remington 12CS and shot Remington red/white box .22 Rem Specials in it. It was the understudy to a Remington 25 in 25-20 and a 141 in 35 Rem that I had at the time, but someone wanted the 3 rifle package at a time when I was struggling financially, so I sold them to keep the bank from calling their loan.

When I was a kid, the other teen and pre-teen hunters/shooters who I hung out with shot .22 WRF and .22 Rem Spl in our .22 Magnums, thinking that the lead bullets were less destructive on the rabbits and gray squirrels that we hunted in rural New Hampshire.

If you want a lead (non jacketed) bullet for your .22 WMR, I saw some 45gr Dynapoints today. I think about 1550 fps with the dimple in the top.
