It might not be a gimmick by your standards, but I've found out nothing works better than hunting where deer are. I hunted for years on an 800 acre tract of land that basically had no deer. That wasn't fun but was the only option I had. So I hunted it. We might have seen one or two deer a season. Friends were seeing 5 to ten deer a day on their property. I felt like they had a gimmick, property with deer. I posted that with tongue in cheek, but I do realize how important it is to have a place with deer to hunt.

Been there, done that. I had a spot for 6 years on an old dairy farm. The deer were thick until Labor Day and then they took off for parts unknown. The owner was a gun hunter. In those days, I was mostly into bow. I'd get to hunt all of October and until mid-November-- nada. He'd fly in his buddies for deer camp for a week-- 8 guys, 100 acres, 2 days would produce 2 deer. This was in what is now a Zone 1 county in KY-- unlimited antlerless deer.

There was a gimmick there. After 7 years, the owner found out one of the locals was poaching it late summer with the object of driving him off the property. It worked. The owner put it up for sale and it's now a subdivision.

If you wanted to see gimmicks, you should have seen me and those guys at that farm. The owner did everything to entice deer on the property. He was a successful corporate executive and had a lot of money to throw at it. Yikes! That was as I was nearing my peak of gimmickry as well.

I misinterpreted your post. What you wrote about read like the real deal, so not gimmicky in the "oh that's just some gimmick" sense. I'd love to have the arrangement you described.

Cough silencer and butt out tool if someone else would carry them for me. Also a nice double 460 Rigby which I would carry.

A Bad Boy Buggy. I wouldn't use it for hunting but if it was free I'd use one for driving around the campground in the summer.
