Had two guys walk out on my lake today. No way i would. I almost had to run down and tell them to stop walking they were in the middle of the lake and started coming towards my shoreline. There is still open water in front of my place. 300 geese have kept it open. I figure the guys were about 80 yards away where it was open just 3 days ago from the geese.

Not worth drowning over 8 inch crappies.

I took a drive past two lakes on my way to work this morning. Two guys were out witing 50' of open water. crazy 6-8" perch are not worth risking that! lol

When I lived in WI, there were guys that used to use a ladder from the shore to the ice, to bridge over the open water at the shore on the WI River. crazy crazy

Happy New Year everybody!

I'm sitting at work. We do our annual Physical Inventory at the end of the year and I'm in charge of it so my weekend is shot. But I wish the rest of you a great time with those you love this holiday weekend. Stay safe!

Best wishes for a Happy New Year's to everyone. We will be staying in, and I highly doubt that I'll make it till midnight. My redneck neighbors will let me know when it's midnight, and I sincerely hope there's no low-flying planes in the area when they do, as there will be lots of ordnance heading into the atmosphere right about then. Highlight of the evening will be our annual splurge on some big shrimp to go with some venison steaks.

A bit chilly over here for hunting, but went out anyway for geese in whiteout conditions. Swing and a miss. Nothing except cold feet. Mucks ain't cutting it. I need some WARM boots for sitting in the deer blind, goose field, and ice shanty when temps go single digits or lower. Any suggestions? And how would you size them relative to your normal size? Although I may be a size smaller if I lose a few toes after this last foray. eek

HNY!

Cf, do you have the insulated muck boots? I’m real interested in a set of those. Bit for deer hunting I have Irish Setters, 1000gm thinsulate. The work great. If you’re moving around at all they keep my feet warm. You could always go heavy duty and get Ice King’s or Iceman’s. If you’re not warm in those, you’ve passed away. But you’re not going to walk much.

I've got the Muck Woody Max. Good boots to about 30*. I'd get another pair - had mine for over 10 years. Rubber is starting to crack on the uppers. They say the 5mm neo is good to -20* or so. Maybe if you're walking all day to avoid frostbite, but for sitting all day, forget it unless its ^35*. Anything under 40* and I have to put in toe warmers. They are still my "go to" boots because they're easy to get on and they're pretty comfortable. I also have some leather 600gr & 1200gr Thinsulate lace ups.

Muck also makes the Arctic Ice model that's supposed to be good to -60*. It has 8mm neo. It might be warmer than mine, but I seriously doubt that it's warm enough for a late deer season sit or ice fishing. Reviews are not good with guys saying the rubber on the boot is cracking.

So yes, I'm talking about going Heavy Duty - Ice Kings, Ice Man's, Cabelas Predators (rated to -148*), or Baffin Impacts (Canadians swear by them) are the ones I've heard about. Just wondering what others wear in the northwoods. Not really interested in Micky Mouse boots.

Greetings to all and happy New Year.

CF, for boots look at Cabela's Men's Trans-Alaska Pac Boots. I have a pair use them for extreme deer stand temps and ice fishing. I have really poor circulation in my feet. And these keep my feet warm.

They are lighter than Ice Kings and can move around better also.
