I'm looking for some information with loading Nosler's 70 gr RDF bullet in a 1-8" Tikka .223 Superlite. I'd like to shoot out to 700 yards or so and the published BC is .416, which interests me greatly. I loaded 24.5 gr of TAC at various seating depths but got inconsistent results.

I have Varget and Benchmark to try. Anyone have a good load using these powders?

Thanks,

P

I see they(Nosler) don't have any load data for that bullet in a .223 on their website. Maybe giving them a call will get some useful information?

Btdt. They said to use the 69 gr data off the 5.56 page.

I'm looking for a shortcut via real world experience.

I have shot them out to 700 yards on steel in a 9 twist savage 223. They were about .75 Moa and the advertised g7 bc held up fine to the ranges that I have shot them at. Sweet spot on mine was at the rifling with 25-25.5 grains of rl15 depending on rifle. Great bullets in my opinion.

My t3 shoots the Nosler 77 using 23.8 of RL15 great!! When my wife does her part, half inch group is the result. I forgot to add this bullet is the Custom Competition 77.

Seeing as how I'm loading the 70 grain RDF...

Here's the results:

First up, T3 Superlite, 1-8"

25.0 grains, average 2824, high 2827, low 2823, ES 4

25.5 grains, average 2908, high 2929, low 2891, ES 38

26.0 grains, average 2924, high 2927, low 2920, ES 7

All brass looked great, no pressure signs.

Next, T3, 1-10"

25.0 grains, average 2851, high 2865, low 2838, ES 27

25.5 grains, average 2911, high 2934, low 2879, ES 55

26.0 grains, average 2969, high 2996, low 2937, ES 59

All brass looked great, no pressure signs.

25 grains was a little crunchy, 26 was really crunchy. I'm interested in the bullet for the Superlite, so I think I'll try a depth test with 25.5 grains and see how they shoot.

I'm out of the heavy game. I tried three bullets, four powders, and four seating depths. Nothing shot worth a schitt. I'm going back to 50 gr NBT, 3400 fps and sub-MOA.

Dont give up on them yet. I found them to be great in both a 223 and in an 8 twist 22-250
