Thanks. So in the video dated May 2017, he states that due to the carbon fiber showing through as black when sanding/fitting the gelcoats and marbles, they will now only offer it in a black+gray marble finish because that doesn't show so much.

No more McWoodies it would seem in marbled edge construction. That stinks! I wanted one in a McWoody.

I don't think that window of opportunity was very wide, didn't last that long.

Guess I lucked up.

And, of course, the price on mine just went up... cool

I wish they would add graphite powder to the epoxy on the edge to get a sort of Gun metal grey or Titanium look with very little weight. I like the naked edge and what is done on sailboats is to paint it with spar varnish or a clear lacquer with UV inhibitors. This wouldn't save much weight over a painted one but would look cool.

Anyone weigh a stock before and after hydro dipping? Probably if the clear coat was done well it would be the same as painted but don't know.

Dakota your weights look close but you reversed naked and painted weights.

There are weighs published around here somewhere comparing a hydro dipped Kimber Mountain Ascent stock vs a painted Montana stock. The dipped stock is an oz. or so heavier IIRC.

I talked to McMillan and confirmed no McSwirly Edge stocks. They will do molded in camo on an Edge though.

those "Carbon Ambush" stocks do look cool, all the benefits of a lightweight wedge without paint to get messed up.. Camo enough for most peoples needs also...

Son has one of those on order, can't remember the colors he got it in. Found order form, woodland carbon ambush.

I wonder if they stripped it before dipping? They probably did or the dip would be much heavier.

I was hoping some glass experts would comment on my previous post just to make sure I am not in the dark on my thinking.
