What changes or improvement would you make and why?

Will the 3B fit the edge stock...any pictures out there?

It seems like a bastard combination to me. A slim, trim hunting stock with a four pound barrel and a bunch of heavy "tactical" metal stuck in it.

In that stock I'd be thinking blind magazine, lightweight trigger guard, and maybe a #2 contour at 24" tops.

Just me -

I'd skip the TBK but have the handle anchored.
Substitute Trigger Tech for the Timney (slightly better from what I've seen/felt/installed..
The 3B will fit as long as you order the stock and let McMillan know what barrel and contour you're using..
Why 25"? Long range target shooting??

I'm looking for the ability to stretch it out, but still be in the hunting rifle realm. Don't want a full blown long-range rifle.

I'm guessing as listed I'm pushing the 10lb range with all the metal.

Looks good to me, except that I'd go Bart 2B at 22".

I doubt that 3b will even fit in a compact edge from the ones I've seen, that's a pretty slim forend!
+1 on the 2b the perfect contour IMO, the stock is the weak link for your parts list, change it to something that will match the parts and you'll be golden!

Are you dead set on the 3b contour?
If you really like the Non typical blueprint which I really like than I would use a Mcm Classic, a fluted #3 Bartlein would work great but you will at or over 9lb's with a scope,
a 2b unfluted would save a little weight and is still plenty heavy for long range shooting 23-24" is really all you need also!

Should have read your OP a little closer the Mcm Hunter would be an ok choice, for some reason in my thinking you were going to use a Compact edge,

I still prefer a Classic over a Hunter but that's more a personal choice!

i'm going with Redneck,but the bbl choice Length is yours , like the flutting idea, she''ll settle down quicker , different rings n bases would save weight, and work just as well as the tac stuff, short bbls are for carbines,Giggle giggle , good thoughts though make it yours and enjoy it ! good luck .

My secondary is the 6.5x55 have a couple of those and love them too.

Years ago- '04 or '05??? I had Charley Sisk build me a 300 Win. (Classic stock, Mod 70 classic action) I told him I wanted a 26" CM Krieger barrel.

He told me he uses SS Lilja barrels and would prefer a 24" barrel. He said he'd be more than happy to get a Krieger and go 26", but he's had great luck with the Liljas and the 24". ............I was not impressed with the choices (WTF does he know-after all, I've surfed the web) and very reluctantly I agreed.

13 years later that rifle has travelled the world and still shoots 180 gr TSX @3040 fps in one hole.............

Oh and I wound up selling a pair of G33/40 actions, 3 Pre War Mod 70 actions and some blanks that I was going to use for other calibers as I really didn't need any other rifles other than my 270 for most of my hunting.

I am always curious as to why a rifle needs a "tactical bolt knob". BobinNH always referred to them as short knobs.

1-10 twist, both rounds are great, don't uder rate the 308, its your build you choose ,ive got them both . so many choices but not enough time . tony s your 26 inch Krieger was a Fantastic choice, they don't shoot that great for nothing, and yes I own them and Lilljas, but not ss Lijljas, custom smiths & gunsmiths are very set in their ways theycan and sometimes be wrong ........but that's people in general,

I took an old, but like new B series Rem 700, had it professionally bedded into a classic swirly McMillan and it shoots unreal with 180 Accubonds. From sitting position with a bipod, I was banging 800 yard steel repeatedly and quickly. It has the 22" barrel and has those going 2800 fps.

I'd go that route and if it didn't shoot, I'd dupe factory contour with a stainless 10 twist and one of those fancy serengeti reamers for 30-06. But mine cost me about $700 total and weighs under 7 pounds without scope. It has standard bdl bottom metal and a 6x SWFA for a scope.

What is the main use of the rifle? It sounds like a tweener neither fish nor fowl. Go lighter for a hunting rifle and heavier for a target rifle A-5 for targets. The Classic or compact for hunting Bartlein 0 taper is great as it has the beef where it does the most good and ends up in a feather weight contour. It would look right in the compact stock.

You definitely want the 2b, 3b fluted feels like a beast. Pick your length, have to agree with the others if chasing a hunting rifle. I personally like a carbon fiber tactical style handle on my rifles

30-06 is a GREAT all rounder...which is the main reason I would not do a custom in that caliber
