Cookie likes to help out our local fowl with some birdseed and about 1 lb of cracked corn tossed on the ground each morning for the quail The local does have caught on to the corn, and hold off in the sagebrush until Cookie heads in through the gate. Today this gal showed up and brought along her new boyfriend. She worked the corn and he held back a bit on the perimeter near the bark pile.

While he's a for sure mule deer, he could almost pass for a white tail given his antler configuration. With a little imagination, I suppose one could call him a 4 by or an 8 pointer.

The doe must not be as cute as I thought, as we saw the buck heading off solo into the wilderness about 5 minutes later.

Have a good one,

Very Nice, 1 minute.

We only have whitetail here and they're not that large in antler nor body size.

That is not an atypical mule deer frame. Full blooded me deer. Hybrids are very rare in the wild....

Over on the wet side I pour piles of rolled corn for the deer. They love the stuff.

This was our visitor just a day earlier. I have some discussion going about his potential for the Dinkathon thread. Some real potential there, but sadly his majestic rack is a bit broken up.

Have a good one,

I need a back yard like that.

The only critters in my back yard are rabbits. I like your backyard better.

Nice buck.

We are in town but we have about a mile square of woods behind us. My wife does the same, seed and corn for the birds and other critters. We’ve had as many as nine does at a time and some pretty nice bucks on our game cameras over the years.

I’ve been tempted to set up on my deck with my bow but it would be just my luck to stick one and have it run and die in the street or a neighbor’s yard. Of course “prime time” is right at “getting off from work time” too so that would present a slightly awkward situation.😄
