Varmints. What do you use mostly that holds up but don’t worry too much about theft nor breaking it.
Here am wrestling with which NIB to cut open today to drop on a ruger predator .223 to leave in the truck: weaver 6x vs. redfield 2-7x. Or, an old redfield 2-7x TV sitting here, but feel a little bad throwing that on the floor. Wish i had some more just-old-beaters on hand.

The $85 3-9 ZV3 Minox scopes that Doug sells are perfect for truck guns.

For me it would be a 2-7x
I doubt you will be too happy if any of them is stolen, I am sure any of them will work fine for a truck gun.

If you buy many used guns invariably you end up with some from the 60's, funky off brand stuff. I have a few myself. Probably Japanese glass. No idea how they work or don't, but I wouldn't care if they were stolen. Problem is, they need to work first and foremost, and I don't want to gamble.
One that I've heard positive things about here is the pre-Monarch Nikon 4x.

Either the fixed 6 weaver or the 2-7 redfield would be my choice

Depends on what you mean by "varmints."
If you do a lot of calling and brushy hunting, then the 2-7.
If mostly just plinking at critters already spotted out across a field, then the 6x.
Sell the TV Redfield to somebody that wants it for a collector.

Yup. Went 6x. Have other setups for calling. Thinking on the circus music playing the last time i went scrambling for the sav 22/410 in the truck and flubbed it (selector), decided simpler is better.

Either 2-7 Redfield would be my choice. They're tough and have pretty decent optics.

If it was a choice between an El Paso Weaver K6 or a Denver Redfield 2-7x to put on an RAR-P in 223, I'd probably opt for the K6 since there are less things to go wrong with a fixed power scope that is going to live in the back of a pickup. For a long time I had an El Paso K6 on a Mossberg 800C that lived in the back window rack of my 1984 Nissan 720 pickup. Both the rifle and the truck are long gone, but the scope is still working fine and is now installed on a Ruger 77R in 257AI.

How far of a walk is it from where you park your truck to the front door of your house?
I know it might be a pita to pack your gun every day but it beats having it stolen. I don't leave anything in my truck I'm not willing to lose, and it would take a pretty crappy gun for me not to care.
That said, I'd put the redfield 2-7 on there and pack every day.

I usually use a well used a vx 2 3-9x40 that's been carried a lot and shows it including the finish scraped right off in places from rubbing against an aluminum pack frame one time. It came partly unlashed from the pack on an ugly bush wack and I didn't notice it. If it was stolen I'd be pissed but I wouldn't feel too hard done by it doesn't owe me much.

You are concerned about a good scope not being stolen but it matters not if the rifle is by default gone if the POS scope is taken?l 😜

Simple solution is to buy a nicer truck and use a VX6.

Standing by to get flamed....
But a $59 Tasco World Class 3 x 9 down at BiMart...
decent enough Glass, tough as nails, solid adjustments
gets destroyed, Bushnell still warranties them real well...
if not warrentied... out $60 and just replace....
or a used Leupold 3 x 9 if you are that picky...

Mine are usually used Redfield Revolutions or used VX-2, 3-9x40. Bought 2 of the latter in the last month for cheap.
Now with even more aplomb
