cow Elk from last week using my 1885 7mm mag with 154gr sst on 70 gr r25 that is the exit hole at about 100 yds

What area in Unit 34 did you hunt,16penny? I was hunting around Sunspot.

Nice, hunted not to far away from there when we lived in NM. Outside of Sacramento.


There's 2 dates they carve on your tombstone.
Everyone knows what they mean.
What's more important is time that is known
as the little dash inbetween.

All the years I lived in NM unit 34 never could draw a resident tag, but my ex did and tagged a big cow elk.

Same here. I finally drew but after moving out of state a few years ago and found a bull up by Weed.

Part of the reason we left NM, inability to draw a tag and the ridiculous price that landowners were getting for cow tags. Now as for U34, miss stopping in at the cafe in Weed while out scouting.

Killed my cow elk @ 8am Saturday morning. Used a Interterms Mark X .35 Whelen and a 250 grain Speer.

I love 34. But have not drawn a tag in so long I just quit trying. A shame, its only 12 hour or so drive for us. But then we found Alaska instead. Sure did like that area in 34 though. Got to know it quite well during archery in the 80s.


We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....
