So I just picked up a Savage model 25 Lightweight in 204 Ruger. I had a long debate on whether to get a 22-250 or a 204 Ruger and decided on the 204. This gun is awesome. I was able to shoot 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards the first day on the range and it was a 15 mph wind so it made it difficult to hold completely still. I was also able to shoot 2 1/2 inch groups at 250 yards. Pretty impressive from a rifle that only cost me $487 brand new (I got a pretty good deal on the gun). I was using the Hornady 40 grain. If y'all are looking for a sweet shooting varmint gun at a really good price you should check out the 25 Lightweight.

Congratulations on your purchase. What kind of scope did you put on it?

I put a Leupold VX-3i 3.5-10 on it. It's not the one I really wanted but I only spent $250 on it new. It is really clear though and it's a Leopold, so what more could you ask for.

Welcome to the forum. It sounds like you got yourself a shooter. The Savage 25 series don't get a lot of play on the forums, so it's good to hear your report. I have seen a few on sale and have been tempted.

I was hoping to get the Savage 16 weather warrior in 204, but Savage stopped making it in 204. I am very impressed with this gun. It is not to heavy and still has a longer barrel for longer range shooting.

I really want a 204, but have no need for one at all. That means I'll probably end up with one. I am looking at the Stainless Ruger 77 ultralight at CDNN for 499. It'd have good company in the safe with my other Ruger ultralights. It probably won't be as accurate as yours.

I have no need for half the guns in my safe, but that doesn't stop me from buying them. My wife tells me I either have to sell a gun every time I buy a new one, or I have to take her out to a restaurant of her choice, which means half the cost of another gun. Haha. 😡
