So, I have the opportunity to buy a Zeiss Conquest, SF, 4.5 x 18 x 44 mil dot scope. 30mm tube. Is anyone familiar with this scope? Want to make sure its authentic, which it looks to be, and see what it may be worth.

Thanks

I’m prolly wrong. But i think all conquests were 1 inch.

Doug can set the record straight I’m sure.

Counterfeit

Only the Conquest Duralyt models had 30mm tubes.

There's never been a 4.5-18x44mm Zeiss if any sort.

There's no authentic Zeiss matching your description. Only one model in the original Conquest line was a 30mm, and that, like Mull pointed out, was the 3-12x56. The Duralyt and Conquest DL had 30mm tubes. The scopes in the Conquest HD5 series featured 1-inch tubes -- and there is NO 4.5-18x anywhere among those models.

Just do your homework and beware. I just took a look at listings on Ebay and the counterfeit Zeiss scopes are listing from Hong Kong of China. At least 30% of the listings were fake. This is even worse than amount of fake Leupolds listed.

Flea Bay is knee deep in knock offs. I don't know how or why they let that go on. Surely they know, it's not a new thing.

I've sent links to Leupold about that same thing with their brand.

Buyer beware is always a good rule.

Zeiss conquests are 1" tubes
The 4.5-14 was available in 44mm and 50mm

There's no such Zeiss Conquest, or anything else Zeiss in a 4.5-18xanything

Thanks, Doug.

Looks to me like Leupold, Zeiss, maybe others could be a bit more aggressive in stopping these Chinese knock offs from using their brand, maybe taking action against outlets like EBay who seem to play along with the deception. They usually do reveal country of origin, but have the Zeiss or Leupold logo on the product. IMO, that's shouldn't be tolerated.

OTOH, a buyer would have to be pretty dumb to buy a knock off "Zeiss" at half price or less with China as the country of origin... shocked

Easier said than done. This affects everything from golf clubs to scopes to just about anything else you can imagine. Most of the major golf companies have have multiple full time staff that do nothing but scour the Internet for counterfeit products. Finding them is only part of the problem, closing listings and shutting them down is another. It's a $multi-billion industry.
