I've shot the 280-AI for about 35 years and 90% of that time I shot 140 grain BT's with outstanding results. ......I've switched to 150 grain BT's and have had even better terminal performance....
.....140 grain BT's gave me 3213 fps average with 0.3" groups, but I decided to bump up to 150's and am glad I did.
Care to 'splain?

I shoot the 150BT over H4831SC. Don't recall the charge weight off the top of my head, but believe it is a Mule Deer load that has been posted here several times. Great accuracy.

I will try that. Last attempt was 55 gr H4831 with awesome accuracy. 60 will put me right where i wanna be.

Running 65 grains with 140 Hornadays and BT at about 3200 fps with good results. I have seen several people say R26 was not as accurate but it has been good for me so far. It might take extra tweaking along with the OAL testing. Sometimes it has responded positively to a hotter primer and also to neck tension. I have not tried crimping but I may when I test R26 in the 375 H&H just to see what it does. This could be a mismatch but maybe not. The 280 AI seems like it is one of those cartridges that you would have to try hard to find a bad load for it. The only caveat is it won't show any pressure signs until you are really pushing it.

Care to 'splain? My rifle always shot really good groups...there just seems to be a decided preference for 150 grain BT's over 140 grain BT's...the groups are always outstanding. Zero flyers, nice super tight clusters...no surprises...ever. Terminal performance is only subjective, but, assuming similar heart/lung hits, I have many more bang flops with the 150'ss than I did with 140's. If I hit bone in some way, say, punching the shoulder blade, the extra weight appears to hold the bullet together better, with better results. Again, subjective judgement on terminal performance, but I've taken enough with both to notice a difference.

I probably hit more elk with a pickup than you have with a rifle. I have yet to see anyone claim Leupold has never had to fix an optic. I know I have sent a few back. 2 MK 6s, a VX-6, and 3 VX-111s.

[quote=handwerk , then for some reason I started getting some pressure signs this summer [/quote]
I wonder what is up with that? Temperature, throat, dirty bore, component change or bad JuJu?
