Marlin 1895 GBL 45-70

I'm really liking the 1895 GBL 45-70! It's on my list for 2018.

If you are going to hunt in foul weather, say, in Alaska, get the stainless version. They take a beating.

Otherwise, I quite like the looks of this blued version.

I have one and really like it, fit and finish is the same as my JM marlins, aldo have an older guide gun and cannot decide which 45-70 I like best.

I have one, it's fun with 430gr hard cast. The big loop works well with gloves. I've never really liked the look of the laminate stock, one day I'll get some time to add some new wood.

I have one of the stainless 1895SBL models, and wouldn't trade it for anything. I shoot 250 grain Barnes TSX's at about 2600 FPS. The recoil isn't bad at all, but the muzzleflash/noise REALLY gets your attention when you touch that trigger off.............

I've got one of the old 1895 GS models and had it since they introduced it in 2001-2002?

Also have an early 70's 1895 45/70 with the straight stock and small loop, and one of the XLR models.

Going to pick up an SBL model probably end of this year.

I love my Marlin rifles and I like other types of rifle too, especially Mausers. Even so there's something special about my old leverguns and I prefer to carry and use them over all others. I appreciate the mechanical and design excellence of my Mauser and Steyr Mannlicher rifles but there's just something special about using an model 336, 1895, or 93. Love them.

i see that Marlin has an 1895 Trapper with 16.5" barrel listed on their web site. I like.

Yeah, was thinking about one of these, too to attach to my pack when venturing in the Picket Range in the North Cascades. Liking the 2" shorter barrel. For the money, may as well buy another SBL, though as the length of draw is about 7/8" less and am not sure I'd like the bead blasted finish instead of regular stainless on the receiver.
