Can't figure out what I'd do with something like that, especially if it's ugly, heavy, and bulky, even if it is politically correct. That's about my feelings on it, also. I guess it's a moderately priced plinker that shoots moderately priced ammo. It has the advantage of using handgun ammo if that is actually any advantage. I'm all for Ruger profiting and thriving, and I hope this becomes a standard, like the Mini-14 did.

I like it, I don't know why I would need it though. But then again when has need had anything to do with a lot of my acquisitions. A 40 might be a little more useful though. IMO.

I'd otherwise be a "meh" on this, but I like the takedown feature. In 45 or 10mm, I'd consider it.

Designing it to take multiple types of mags was a great move......if it's reliable and accurate, this will be a home run for Ruger. It's definitely on my list now.....

I'll buy one if the street price is closer to $400, I can buy the Ruger AR556 for under $500 OTD. It is the same length and almost 1/2 pound lighter.

They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.

I have a Keltec sub 2000 that I like a lot, so I like the idea of a takedown pistol caliber carbine.
My initial thoughts on the Ruger. The price point is too high. Retail should be about $400 if they want to gain any market space. If they wanted to incorporate a ghost ring, the rear sight should have been mounted on the receiver rail. Compatibility with Glock mags is a huge plus. It seems a .40 cal barrel would be a straight drop in accessory.
A pistol version with 14" barrel and folding "pistol brace" would be a popular configuration.

Independence Indoor Range, 2749 E. Gala Ct., just south of Overland and just west of Eagle Road, within sight of the Majestic movie theater. Take S. Wells Ave. off of Overland to get there. A nice draw is that they have a bunch of rental firearms to shoot including several full auto. I think they even have an M249 SAW. While I was there a handful of folks brought in a full auto weapon with 3-4 magazines and burned up $50 worth of ammo in a few seconds. https://www.iishooting.com/Thanks.!

Not interesting until I can stick a 21 mag in it and run 230's through a can.

I'm sure I'll get crap for it but for just plinking around and having fun, I love the Hi-Point 9mm carbine. Paid less than $300 for it, and sleek is not a word I'd use to describe it, but my kids love shooting it, and I'm good with that when I don't want them burning thru my .223 ammo. The mag isn't the greatest but..eh...you get what you pay for.

It had this kind of failure, that kind of failure, and this type of failure, but other than that, it's a really reliable little gun.

Not a Keltec clone, a Beretta CX9. Pretty much identical. I like the looks of the Beretta better, with the magazine in the grip. Just a smoother looking piece. I agree, but the Beretta doesn't take Glock magazines, and I would not consider one for that reason. We'll see if Ruger's bold move to adapt the gun for Glock magazines reveals a market opportunity that Beretta may have missed. Ruger appears to have realized that people are not going to buy the carbine if they have to buy different magazines, and also that people are not going to buy a Ruger pistol just to have commonality of magazines with the carbine. I think they are right, but we shall see. Who knows, maybe Beretta will realize this and adapt their carbine.

That's why I'd wait until there's some reviews out there besides those made by prostitutes.

Good thing they fluted the barrel, otherwise it might have been too heavy...
