I have an LC Smith 12 gauge, with 5 pins, Damascus barrels and it is hammerless. Serial number indicates it was made in 1907 according to the LC Smith website. It is a field grade and in good condition. Just looking for more info on this gun. Thanks

what else would you like to know. the barrels, bores, chambers and chokes could be measured by a gunsmith with the proper tooling. it could also be evaluate as to being on face and lockup. .hopefully no one has "improved it" by lengthening the chambers or shortening the barrels. if it gets a clean bill of health and you want to restore it to the dignity it deserves, RST makes shells that would work at lower pressure, and you can shoot it. I like the old shotguns and L.C. Smith's in particular, they are like real estate, they don't make any more. field grades were "farmer" guns and were usually looked at as needed tools. to have one in good condition is a blessing.

Thanks. It has not been improved. So good to go there. Gunsmith has checked it out said it was ready to shoot. Thanks for info for shells. Bores are clean and shiny. Barrels need redone on outside. Damascus is fading but not bad. Has a beavertail forearm and ejectors. All around looks good. Thanks again.

Just a little clarification--- your gun is either not a 1907 or a Field grade. Field guns were not labeled "Field" until 1913. There are duplications of serial numbers in some instances between pre and post '13 guns, and if you refer to the L C Smith site (lcsmith.org) you can determine what grade it is.

Well it is a 5 pin what can find out 5 pins only made in 1907 right? All # match and match # on web page for 1907. # is 3163xx. Was told it was field. Have not found field mark on it. Has an 0 on it. I guess it is a 0 grade? Thanks for more info.

If it has an "O" on the watertable it's a pre'13 "O" grade--- the equivalent of a post-'13 Ideal grade.
