Hi guys - new here obviously. You can put me down for one!

I signed onto the campfire to ask some questions about the 1899 takedown 250-3000 w/ 410 that was gifted to me. I saw this thread so I figured I'd chime in to help keep the count going!

I will start a new thread soon with some details and pictures - I would love to hear what you all think about it.
I believe it's all original (not dicked with as far as I can tell) but I'd like to hear from the gurus.

Thanks - Scott

This is my Grand Fathers 1899 in 250/3000. He bought it brand new back in the 1920's. I was going to re-blue it, but then I realized that it was Grandpas hands that wore the blue off carrying it as his main hunting rifle for many years, I can't touch it up, I feel it would be just wrong.

I'm looking forward to seeing it with one of Lightfoot's no drill scope mounts and a new scope so my bad eyes can shoot it again. I will take a deer and an Elk with it next season.... grin

If God wanted us to be vegetarians, he would have made broccoli more fun to shoot!

If guns kill people, does that mean I can blame misspelled words on my pencil?

I am looking for info on a savage model 99 that was gifted to me from the old man I used to hunt with. It is chambered in .250/3000, brass shell counting window, checkering on fore end, serial number 7117##, and it appears the boss code is 20B in a circle. Pretty sure it is all original from his stories.
Just curious as to a year and model?

99EG with a thin forearm and schnabel tip, 99R if it has a fat and wide forearm with rounded end. Serial number puts it to 1953/1954.

Welcome to the campfire!

LBC and serial number don't match up. 20B would be 1950.

Thanks for the help. It appears to be a 20E not 20B….tough to make out.

An E would match up with the serial number.

I'm new here. Don't quite know how this forum works yet but I'll try to add to the total. I have only 2. A .303 1899 and a .243 99. The 99 is either an A (on the barrel) or an E (on the receiver.)

Hey fellas, I'm new to the forum and figured I'd add my few to the list. Current count is at 7 and growing whenever possible. Here's the list so far:

1899B 303
1899B 32-40
1899 F 30-30
1899 H 22HP (just a shooter)
1899 250-3000
99 250-3000
99C 22-250

I've only been following the forum for a short time but have gained a lot of knowledge from a lot of your posts and look forward to learning more. I was bit by the gun bug early on and the Savage lever gun has always been at the top of the list. When I figure out how to post pics I'll share one of my little group of guns.

Jake

You don't come across too many 1895s out here. As a matter of fact, the only one I can recollect seeing was years ago at Mazama Sporting Goods in Eugene Oregon.
