As posted on the thread in the Hunting Rifles Forum, Tikka gave us permission to start a pre-order on the new Tikka T1X rimfire. I decided to give members here first shot at the rifles. We've already placed our order with Tikka. They'll be available in 22LR and 17HMR. We expect a late April, early May delivery.
I'll post the links for each rifle on our website below. Those links will be the only way for you to get in line on here. PM's are confusing because of screen names/real names and we can't process any orders from a PM.
To order the rifle, you'll need to hit the "click here for price" button and submit your email address in the space provided. We'll send a reply email with the price for the rifle. You'll need to add the rifle to your cart from that email. That's the only way to add the rifle to your cart. It can't be done from the original product page. You have the option to pay for the gun in full or place the rifle on lay a way. The lay a way option is all that's required to secure your order. Lay a way does require 15% down.
As always, you can send us an email with any questions or any issues that may arise. Eric and Cody will be managing the pre-sale and most of you know they're superb to work with! darrikwhittakerguns.com ericwhittakerguns.com codywhittakerguns.com
Darrik - you are a bad, bad man!! .17HMR ordered and paid for.
Now for the wait!!
By the way, if anyone is on the edge of ordering but wondering about Whittaker - DON'T worry. I've purchased a few things and each and every transaction has been perfect. Although I normally handload, I stumbled across a fantastic Federal factory round for my .270 Winchester a few months ago. Needed some more and submitted an order on Wednesday of this week. My friendly UPS driver delivered them to me today (Friday). Amazing! This is for a small order of a couple boxes of ammo. They are the best!
I have a meeting scheduled with them at SHOT. I’ll get answers on any future models at that time. I’ll get back with mag prices as well. They’re on order.
I enjoy handguns and I really like shotguns,...but I love rifles!
Does anyone know if they will offer a stainless model. I will definitely buy one but I dont want to pre order a blued one and then Tikka releases a stainless model after the blued model. You know what I mean?
I ordered mine on Whittaker’s. Man, am I excited! I was going to buy a shotgun with Christmas money but now I went and bought a Leupold 1200i range finder, a Tikka T1X, and a Nikon 3-9x40 EFR AO scope for it!
Any update on the mounting rings? Will T3 equipment work? If I can order the same DNZ Game Reaper I have on my T3, I will order it and be ready to rock!
Is there an estimated shipping date (or month or quarter or year) in the T1X?
Update: Just met with my Tikka rep. No mags are on order. They've not listed the SKU yet. I'm sure that will happen in the next few weeks. He's also going to check on the mounting options. It's drilled/tapped/rail just like the T3X. He's checking on spacing. No stainless models will be available for 2018. He doesn't have knowledge on future availability.

Just pulled the trigger on one of these. Can't wait. Now it's time to shop for a scope. Probably a 20 moa rail too as I'll be using this out to 200 yards. Wondering if anyone makes such a thing yet. I guess the search is on !

Awesome, when the left hand version comes out (hopefully next year) I'm buying one for my wife to go with her LH T 3 6.5x55. I have a nice LH CZ 452 but this new gun is going to be a huge hit.
I misjudged this offering. It appears that Tikka rifle owners will be a ready market for matching Tikka rimfires. Since I dont own a Tikka and not been impressed with the sako rimfire, my reception is little cooler. My Ruger experience was that the QC is un-acceptable. It is a great design, trigger and action. I ended up buying two before I was fully satisifed. The early issues include cockeyed sights and stock forearm rubbing the barrel. If Tikka can price match, match performance and up the QC, that should get it done. It will never be a beautiful walnut stock gun like Anschutz or CZ, but; they could provide stiff competition in the plastic class. The Tikka name, gives them a head start. All they have to do is "not mess up".
This maybe just me, but; I would thank that any plastic/synthetic stocked rifles would default to stainless. Rugged, all weather, I mean what is the point blue steel and plastic? Just cheap? It has got to me. If not stainless, then some miracle coating like they use on handguns. Not matt. Tough. Stainless does not even meed a finish. That should offset the small uptick in material or machining cost. Yea, I got a Ruger, I took what was offered.
So the receiver inlet is the same as the standard Tikka. Is the trigger guard inlet the same as well? Meaning, will standard Tikka inlets from McMillan and Manners work for this?
so, will all the bottom "metal" fit and t1x barreled action fit into a t3/t3x stock? sorry wildcat just reread your post. i kinda asked the same thing ha!

Think I'm going SWFA 6X or 10X as well since the tax day sale is about here. Do the T3x bases fit this action? Going with Burris Tactical rings if I can so I can put some cant in. Daughter wants to learn a little bit about LR shooting, thought this might make a decent trainer.
With the 11mm rail, just using the J&P Custom weaver scope rail adapter and Burris Signature rings here. Same set up on my Browning T-Bolt that works well.
I see the receiver is drilled and tapped. Does anybody know if standard T3 bases will work? I preordered mine and will get some Talley LW’s awhile if they will work.

Its the same as the QUAD. I picked up the Dpi rail which Im told will work. However, it remains to be confirmed 100%
Shortactionsmoker - Do you have an anticipated ship date yet ? Getting anxious. I'm like a 8 year old at Christmas time.

How about an update please.

In the FWIW column......I contacted Whittaker's late last week and asked if they knew anything about when these rifles may be coming in and the individual I spoke with said "as soon as we know you will know". So we wait
I'm sure that Darrik will ensure that everyone who deals with him directly or through Whittaker's will be treated the fairly. He always has in the past, so there is no reason to doubt that he will continue to do so now and in the future.

The orders aren't actually cancelled. The cancellation notice you're receiving is automated because it's exceeding the specified time limit in the computer.. You only receive the notice if the gun (preorder) was on layaway. Guns that were paid in full won't receive the notice. THE ORDERS ARE NOT CANCELLED INTERNALLY. Eric and Cody have been reaching out on an individual basis when a cancellation notice is sent, but today is Saturday and they're not here.
Everything is fine with each order. Nobody is losing any money and you're orders are still active in our system. As always, send us an email if something goes astray. darrikwhittakerguns.com ericwhittakerguns.com codywhittakerguns.com

And that was a piss poor answer from someone here. The rifles were delayed in customs and Tikka is being very vague about delivery. I'll get you a real answer Monday.

SAS......appreciate your response. I’m good with whenever they come in but a friend of mine ordered one also and I told him I’d follow up with Whitaker’s and that was what I got. I’ll be sure to let him know what you report!

This may separate the men from the cry babies. Easy for me to say, Tikka has no 22mag plans. I can just watch.
Hope these rifles turn out to be shooters. Wife is right handed and wants a 17 for shooting small vermin off the back porch at distances up to 100 yards
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.
I got an email this morning that my Whittaker's layaway cancellation was an automatic system reply after 120 days. I called Whittakers and all is back on track for my .22 T1x ( paid in full on the phone today). I was told and update should be coming soon but that Europe T1x's had some issues.
We've emailed and called. Everybody we've talked to is pushing it to someone else. I hope we get some firm answers tomorrow. I'll give you another update as soon as they respond to the last email.

Any more updates? I've got a fat whistle pig lurking around back just about every day. I could easily dispatch him with my 10/22 as I've done so many times before but was hoping to take down vermin this summer with the Tikka.

Well…. We have some news, but it’s not good unfortunately. Below is exactly what I received via email about 30 mins ago. As always, we are not trying to sugar coat anything, deceive, or withhold any information. Again, if we would have had any idea this was even a slight possibility we would have never started taking pre-orders. Historically speaking Tikka has shipped new products in a timely manner.
Here is the email I received. If you have any questions, please let us know!
Got some news, although it’s not very good.
Finland plans to get a whopping 300 unit out before they go on summer holiday/shutdown. That sounds great, until you find out the 300 units is for worldwide distribution and for some untold reason, they are going to be in 17HMR.
We are trying to get clarity on how many will come to us.
Sorry man, not sure what else to tell you other than once we get some .22’s, you will be the first to know.
If it wasn’t for the fact that I can’t find a buyer for the NIB Nikon EFR 3-9x40 AO scope I bought back in the first week of January when I ordered this rifle with some Christmas money from my in-laws, I would already have canceled this order and bought the Remington V3 when the Dove Days rebates come out in a week or two.
I was going to save that money till this August for that purpose and looks like I got too trigger happy with it!
I understand that this is not Whittaker's/Eric's fault... but what a cluster this has been.
It'll be a flippin year before we see the .22 LR's

Meh......they’ll get here when they get here. I have plenty of other toys that go bang. Besides, I’ve forgotten about this enough times already I’ll be excited all over again when they finally ship!
Thanks for the heads up Darrick!

I highly doubt that anyone who ordered one, its their first and only rimfire. And if it is, go get a 10/22 or something that strikes your fancy and just wait. It’s not really that big of a deal, other than the Gimmies! I can wait, it’s just another toy anyway. I lost more money on a startup company that promised state of the art bluetooth wireless ear buds.
I appreciate the continued reaching out and updates as you get them.
Maybe you could convince them to throw in some free rings, a spare mag, or a case for making everyone wait so long
All 3... Rings, extra mag, and case.

Or maybe some of us should send email to a Tikka contact with a "THANK YOU" note. That is a big, thank you, for not pulling a "RUGER". You get my meaning?
For those who dont get the point. "Thank you Tikka for getting the product right before releasing it to North America. The longer I wait, the more inclined I am, to risk a new product purchase when they are released.
I have several other great shooting 22's. I was hoping to add another one, and try the Tikka. After all this wait, I finally cancelled my order and received a full refund. I'll spend my money elsewhere and continue to shoot what I already own.
Eric or Cody, Any more communications from Finland ?

I emailed Whittaker's over the weekend they got back to me yesterday with this:
"We haven’t heard a peep from anyone at Beretta USA. I talked to my rep last week, and it seems that is because their product team isn’t really sharing any details with them. I know this is becoming frustrating for you, as it is for us. At this point, we are regretting pre-selling, as it has caused a lot of headaches for everyone involved. The moment we know more, everyone will too.

I'm not looking to hang anyone. As others have stated, I'd prefer to have a safe firearm the first time, rather than have to send it back for a safety recall.

I've been holding off making a road trip to Whittaker's until the Tikkas come in, I'd like to compare them to the Zephyr IIs (I have several CZs already). Looks like I'll have to wait a bit longer.

I received an email from Whitakers a few weeks ago. They said that the .17 HMR's were in the states waiting on USCS to clear them. But no word on the .22 LR's yet.

Whittaker's last email came on Oct 9. I just googled Tikka T1x within the last month and saw a Facebook page for "Valley Arms Shooting Supplies" in the UK that had the T1x's in stock in both 17HMR and 22LR. The photo had 3 boxes 1 being a 22 and the other 2 being 17's. That photo was also posted on the 9th. Hopefully if they are being distributed in the UK ours are not very far off.

I called Beretta today and they said 22lr will be shipping “Q1 of next year”.
I don’t mind waiting if that’s part of the deal up front, but this business of putting a rifle up for sale and then ghosting their customers for a year has left a real bad taste in my mouth concerning Beretta/Tikka.
That's pretty terrible. If they knew it was going to take that long they shouldn't have allowed their distributors to take pre-orders. Basically Tikka/Beretta set up a go fund me account so they could continue to develop/work out the bugs in their rifle. I could see having to wait that long a couple of years ago when manufacturers were selling everything they could make but I have a feeling that's not the case for Tikka. Like you said it would be different knowing we wouldn't get the rifle for a year up front but we've been strung along by Beretta/Tikka the whole way.
Picked up mine today. Just a cursory fondle, but so far looks nice. Machining and function looks A plus. Everything is slick working. Trigger is great.
Magazine is what it is, little polymer job. Release seems a bit easy to work but is recessed well.
Typical Tikka stock.
Super handy and feels great in the hand.
Need rings.
Excited to shoot it!

Leupold VX2 3-9x40. No CDS, otherwise it’s just like my big Tikkas. I’m going to use the .17 as practice, like shooting free throws before the big game.

I called and the Wisconsin store had two (in 22lr) in stock at $470....FWIW so hopefully Whittaker’s will be getting some in soon?
PennDog
OK decided to call Whittaker’s and this is what I heard:
“We received about 50 guns in .22lr and shipped those out to the folks that pre-ordered (in order of pre-order position - I assumed that part). Beretta screwed up (yet again) and sent the majority to Scheel’s. No idea when next ones will be in but when they come in they will go out to the pre-order people”.
Well guess the wait continues - kinda a shame such hoopla around the pre-orders then continual disappointment since....really hope the things shoot other wise the whole fiasco will be a disappointment - Beretta will surely lose some future business with the lack of customer service?!
My 22 from Whittakers was finally delivered Friday I picked it up at my FFL Saturday morning. I haven't shot it yet didn't realize I had rings that wouldn't work. Hopefully the weather holds out and I can shoot it by the end of the week.

Fondled a .17 at Bud's a few weeks ago. I've decided I'd REALLY like one of the .22's this year. Would like to chop it at 16.5", a 6x Super Chicken, and a can.
As long as I've read about gun stuff on the internet I've learned one thing, if you "pre-order" something new that is introduced at the SHOT show, it's gonna be vaporware until around the next SHOT show. If you had to "pre-order" it, it ain't in production yet. Despite the best of intentions, crap will happen when a new product hits the production line. Any and all promises will go out the window.

Yeah I missed the 11mm thing and took the "use all of your T3 accessories" too literally. I had a set of the free rings the T3's used to come with was figuring on using those until I actually saw the gun. At least I didn't buy the wrong parts. Ended up ordering some Talley lightweights in low.
Unfortunately, don’t know yet. Blew an acl new years day, and my tinker-shop is a long icy walk away from the house. Be a while. Certainly a good looking design but for the rather massive mag proportions. Thinking of putting one of those burris 3-9x rimfire illuminated #4’s on it, or a conques 4x. Maybe by march can be shootimg off the back porch, at least
My bad, guess that burris isn’t rimfire, but
