This one started out as a .338 WM but now it's a 7 mag. and I'd like to make more room in the mag. box to seat long bullets at the lands.

A Wyatt's M70 box won't work, theirs are 3.9" on the outside and this rifle needs one that's 3.7" to work. There's a spacer in the rear of the mag. that takes up about 0.25:

If I take it out, I'm thinking I'll need to get a longer follower, so that's the first question, is that necessarily true?

The second question has to do with the ejector, I'm thinking I'll need to shorten it by about 0.10" to have clearance for the case head, the ejector is in this pic, right in the middle:

Has anyone done this with this action? Does shortening the ejector cause problems?

Thanks.

Thanks. How long was the spacer if you don't mind me asking?

Update, if anybody's curious about this. Dropped it off this AM and my gunsmith took the spacer out. Feeds just fine with another .25" to work with.
