I have a 24" Encore rifled slug barrel.

Where I have a lease in Ill. I need to be able to shoot 200yards (187yds) at max range.

I have ruined a Nikon Monarch when I first got the barrel to the range.

Hate to leave the hunt to a cheap slug scope.

What is a good slug scope with at least a 9 power?

I am shooting the Hornadys.

id go with a fixed swfa 6x or 10x which i think at less than 200 yds not as practical

or the swfa 3-9 for more money

I also hunt in Illinois with a slug gun ... Mossberg 500. I mounted a Nikon Slug Gun scope with the BDC reticle on it 3 years ago. The Mossy loves the Hornady sabots. The BDC reticle has four adjustment lines for elevation. They have an online chart for bullet drop depending on ammunition and magnification (the scope is a 3X - 9x). I absolutely love this setup. I've had no problems with the scope and have fired at least 80 rounds with it mounted. I'm getting 1" - 2" groups at 100 yds - nothing else I've tried comes close. These scopes are exclusively made for slug guns and their heavy recoil.

I do deer in IL too. I’ve had a ‘shoot off’ with my shotgun slug gun, my tricked out Knight muzzle-loader handily won out, 2nd year in a row. Of course your testing at the range will let you know accuracy issues. You may consider a modern inline M-L as an option, if you haven’t already.
