I have always enjoyed rimfires. Some of the happiest days of my youth were spent stomping the banks of Big Wills Creek shooting a JC Higgins semi-auto 22LR at anything that dared move. I have kept several in my battery over the ensuing 4 decades. That battery has been growing lately. I can see adding a Kel-Tec PMR-30 (Darrik had some great prices last time he got some in) and when Darrik gets Ruger to make that special run of RAR Predators in 17 Mach 2, I'll definitely add one of those. Here's the family as it sits now. The Ruger 10/22 Magnum and the Savage heavy barrel 17HMR both sat in a saltwater and mud filled safe following hurricane Katrina for 3 days. Since we didn't have running water I rinsed them off in a freshwater pond then sprayed them down with WD40. I didn't clean them for another 6 months. Those two are my most accurate. Go figure.

I just bought 10 acres at the edge of a rural subdivision. It's where I will retire in about 3 years. Soon I am going to have a huge berm built at the back of the property and I'll have a great range for rimfires.

Very nice collection. I'm sure you will enjoy your retirement with those 22s. I currently have a heavy barrel CZ452 and a 10/22. I hear those 10/22 magnums command very high prices now.

What type of pistol is the one on the upper far left?

That's a Ruger Charger in the upper left. 10/22 magnums do command a crazy high price if they are in good original condition. Mine is in rough modified condition. I came so close to getting one of the CZ heavy barrel 22 magnums recently. Then I stumbled across the RAR Predator 22 magnum pictured for $252 from Darrik and ordered it. I haven't even fired it yet.

I didn’t think there were any rural subdavisions in Metairie. Lol

I'd like a PMR 30. And a Ruger Single 9. And a long barrelled S&W 48, or a Colt Trooper Mk 3 in 22 Mag.

I am looking forward to living in a place where I can walk out my back door and use the ones I own.

This is the correct approach. For sure.

I won't rule that out! The house will definitely have a large covered back porch! Grilling and killing all from the same spot.

Pistols are easier to shoot than rifles while lying on the couch.

We might be onto something here. A new line of furniture built for shooting. You could have a tray/rest that pivots out in front of you. Good for dinner or a foreend rest.

Dad did that to an old tomcat we had running around the place when I was a kid. Sumbitch would attack us kids, we were 7-9 years old or so.

He would attack us or run like hell when he saw mom or dad. Dad baited him up on the porch railing, which was a 2x4 laid flat, one night and shot him right through the screen door with glass raised and screen removed.

Great big yella bastard, or at least he seemed great big when he was after us kids.

Been retired about a year and a half now. Got a little (50 yards) rimfire range set up abouut 50ft from the front door. Nothing better than to walk out and punch some holes. I leave the centerfire stuff to a friends place a few miles away.

I am isolated enough that I will do some centerfire work on my range. I have a neighbor who will live about 200 yards through the woods and about 90 degrees from the muzzle. I am going to be neighborly with him. It may be that he gets a little too much blast. At any rate, I'll talk to him about it. I am certainly willing to do my centerfire shooting when they aren't home. I have already met him. He's a good guy. I am fortunate that I will live less than five miles from this: https://www.mdwfp.com/law-enforcement/mchenry-shooting-range/
