Just came across a marlin 375 win and had to have it, good shape and price. Wondering how others have found it's accuracy with the 200gr factory load. In previous mod 94's in that caliber found them to give poor accuracy. Have a supply of 255 barnes and am going to order Hawke bullets, just need to build up some brass.

I've never fired factory in mine but the 200gr Sierra with IMR4198 and the 260gr Cast Performance .378" LFN with IMR4198 are both very accurate from mine.

Jamison was making brass for the 375 Win. I got a couple hundred cases from them awhile back.

I've owned 2 savage Brush guns, 2 Factory Marlin 375s and 1 Marlin 30TK rebored from 30-30 to .375 win. All shot the factory load around 2" and 100yds which was well within the accuracy I needed for deer hunting. A dozen or so deer were killed VERY RIGHT NOW dead with the factory load. I think the .375 is the sweet spot in a lever action. Puts the smack on deer like the .35 remington, but with less recoil.

My Winchester was so-so accuracy. Plenty acceptable for what it was. And yes I did fell it was better than the 35 Rem. I only used 200 grain PP's.

In my experience with several Winchester 375's the 250/255gr bullets were the most accurate.Just picked up a Marlin but haven't shot it yet.

My Savages shoot the 200 grains factory loads beyond excellent. I now shoot 200 grain Sierra handloads and they shoot just as well.

My big bore 94 liked aa1680'powder .I could push.the 220 hornady bullets up.to 2400 fps .It shot them about 2 inches at 100 yards .It really liked Speer 235 grain they shot single shot 1inch at 100 yards .It was going about 2300 fps with aa1680 powder .I.shot all the way up.to 300 grain round nose with aa1680 powder .I bought them for trick.guns for moose in Alaska .They are awesome little guns with lots of power !

My Marlin 375 Winchester shoots the Hornady 220 grain bullet very well with Reloder 7 powder.

Has anybody tried the 300 grain hornady round nose? Part # 3720?

How about starling 38 / 55 brass in the 375 marlin?

Thanks!

.375 has less recoil than a 35 rem? really?? Serious question, not being a troll...I gotta know!!

I had a 35 rem and used it a few season...one of many I wish I could have back!

I don't think I can tell the difference.

I had a buddy meow about his 35 recoil. It might be bullet weight choice that makes em different.

How about the 270 grain round nose? Any buddy used them in the 375?

I have a .375 in a Marlin and to me, it kicks more than my 35 Remington 336

On the issue of recoil, the 375 Win is loaded to a higher pressure than the 35 Rem. Then there's the rifle weight difference. A top eject 94BB in 375 is probably 1lb lighter than Marlin 336 in 35 Rem.

Angus1895, you can't really use bullets designed for the H&H unless you want to use your levergun as a single shot. Besides, you cant get enough speed out of a 375 Win to get any meaningful expansion. The exception might be the 235 Speer but since Barnes still makes a 255gr FN designed for the 375 Win, I think that would be a better option.

I have used 250-300 gr pills in a 375 Win but they have been lead bullets that I've cast myself. The big 300 gr pills really penetrate well and can be pushed to around 1850 fps, perhaps more with some of the powders you have in the US.

I can't refer to any technical data, but my shoulder gauge says the .375 win kicks less than the .35rem.

Thanks for the reply's, just got back from the north slope. Going to give the marlin some range time with the barnes and some factory ammo. Just got the new Hornady manual and they show an AA powder giving more velocity than RE7 by 100FPS.
