The LGS had one today in a 6.5 CM. It’s a pretty sweet rifle. Does anyone have one? How do you like it? How does she shoot?

I had an Xbolt stainless stalker in 7mm-08 very well built gun. The canyon speed models are very nice, lightweight and if anything like the one I had a real tackdriver.

I looked at a Hells Canyon at my LGS a few weeks ago. I liked the rifle but the price tag was too much. I wound up buying one of the Tikka 6.5 CM's from Whittakers for a lot less dough.

Having said that, I had an X-Bolt Hunter in 270 WCF and it was a very good shooting rifle and I'm sure it would be a good shooter. If the price was right I would buy another one.

I have an X-Bolt SS Stalker in 7mm wsm - nice rifle, and accurate. Very doubtful you'll be disappointed.

I too was a bit shocked at the price since it's not a stainless. IIRC, they were asking $999.99. It is Cerakoted though.

I like the looks of it but wonder about the durability of the finish. I also don’t care for the brake but it includes a thread protector. Wish they made a stainless version with a camo stock.

Did they ever fix the ejection issues with the xbolts on their short mag calibers? Last I read they were telling folks to use high mounts and live with the empties hitting the turrets, which is unacceptable in my opinion.

X-Bolt HC Speed in 243 or 7-08 will be my next rifle. I have a X-Bolt Hunter in -06 and have absolutely zero complaints as far as function, fit/finish or accuracy. I know that X-Botls and Brownings don't get a lot of love around here but I don't personally know anyone that's owned one that didn't love it.

I handled and shot a .308 HC at Reed's gun fair last spring. I liked everything about it. I was shopping for a shotgun at the time but it is on my wish list.

I think the camo stock is ugly as hell but liked the dura-touch or whatever they call it.

WC do you know if you shot the Long Range or the Speed? The Long Range has a 26" barrel without the break. With the break, it was a long SOB.

KB, yes, it does come with a thread protector. I'm not sure why you'd need a break with a 6.5CM? But, it's there if ya want it.

I actually don't know anyone that owns a browning. But hell, I've but worse rifles I'm sure.

I bought one in 6.5 Creedmoor about a month ago. It stunned me by putting it's first three shots into a ragged hole with factory ammo . It used the Hornady 143 grain ELDX load.

It's a half moa factory gun with factory ammo.

That sounds like a fun gun I need to haul around next season.

Not first-hand experience but as part of my research on the Creedmoor I put out feelers to all my contacts and one in the Boise area has a Browning X-Bolt Hell’s Canyon Speed in 6.5 Creedmoor.

He reported that it shot four or five types of factory ammo (all hunting bullets) at 1.0 MOA or better and two of those (Winchester 125gr Deer Season XP and Hornady 143gr ELD-X) went closer to 0.5 MOA.

He took two deer (one of those with the 125 XP), a speed goat and a 5x5 bull with his handload using the Barnes 120 TTSX from 100-320 yards with one-shot, uneventful kills. None of those critters managed to stop any of the bullets. He said the hits were where he pointed.

He loves it and says he’s going to use it to hunt everything. He even sold off a Ruger Hawkeye .308 and is planning on getting rid of a Tikka 7mm RM that he figures he’ll never use as a result of his experience with his Speed Creed.

This guy is a very serious hunter who usually hunts 3-4 states every year and he is two parts mountain goat and one part mountain lion. He’s a beast in the steeps.

I've narrowed my quest for a .223 down to an Xbolt carbine, a Model 7 SS, or a CZ 527 M1 or American.

This thread's making the X-Bolt look real good. They have a hand polished chamber you know.

Maybe a Creedmoor down the line.

LGS also has a ss x-bolt in .308. I thought that felt similar to a model 7. Of of the guys behind the counter really likes brownings. He hunts quite a lot and has been on many hunts in a year using only the browning.
