I’m thinking of using one of these for a new coyote rifle build. I’ve owned several McMillan Hunters Edge/Compact stocks and am interested in something with a little higher comb. Had anyone compare these two stocks? Thanks.

I like the Manners better. Can't believe I'm saying that. I've had lots of Hunter's Edge stocks and like them. Lately, I've been ordering Manners and like them better partly because of the higher comb. I have a few EH4's and like them. I waited 10 months for an EH8 and the barrel channel was inletted wrong, so I had to send it back. Still waiting for it.

I just ordered a EH-SL Superlight from Stocky's. I believe it's the only BDL SA Manners stock they have at the moment and they are 10% off now. So $540 + shipping isn't bad. And no 10-month wait!!

Looks like from the specs, the drop at comb is only a few hundreths off between an EH4 and EH8 and SL. So they all should be good to go.

Good luck with whatever you do.

Thanks for the reply! Aside from the barrel channel issue how did you like the stock otherwise?

Yes. I will like it when it's completed. Not sure that I'll ever order another from Manners. I've heard McMillan is the same as far as longer wait times. Manners used to be better. And McMillan definitely used to be better.

I expect it back soon. I'll take some pics and post them.

I've had both, and definitely prefer the EH8.

Another stock you might look at is the Mcmillan Mountaineer. I've not owned one, but they look nice, and have a high comb.

I just completed a build with an EH8 and LOVE it. I have Ammo McMillan stocks(and one on the way) on my rifles other than a 2 Brown Precisions and this Manners. I agree with 257, I like the higher cheek weld on the EH8 than the hunters edge....although the mcbros Sako hunter remains my favorite hunting stock period

What does this weigh? I see Stocky’s has it listed at 2lbs. nominal.

I'll tell you if I ever get it back. I'm having a hard time with stocks lately. The stock Stocky's sent me was inletted for M5 detachable bottom metal. So I had to send it back to get the BDL inlet. Will maybe have it next week....hopefully. I haven't heard anything from Manners on the EH8 I sent back to them for the barrel channel redo.

My SuperLite weighs 27oz with a M5 DBM inlet....

I've long forgotten about running a McMillan on anything, due mostly to comb heights, and other ergos. Top that with their customer service and it's the only way I'll fly these days.

I love Manners stocks. Its all I use anymore, but they definitely need to work on QC, not the quality of the stock, but getting the specifics correct; LOP, inletting, etc. I've had terrible luck in that department, having to return more than were correct. That said, the big man makes it right, which is the only reason I keep going back. If you are routinely having issues, I'd suggest getting in contact with Tom, he'll make it right.

I'm not privy to any financial info but it seems a dedicated QC position would way more than pay for itself, especially when considering the cost of a lost customer. I know of more than one lost customers due to improper inletting.

I like the stock and I like Tom so I keep hanging in there hoping he'll get it worked out.

Steve, I’ll buy it from you if they can’t inlet it for BDL.... been looking for a SL with M5 inlet...

Thanks Marty. Stocky's is just replacing the stock with the correct inlet stock. She said they have the one I originally ordered and she set it aside for me. Not sure how they made that mistake in filling the order.

So they do have one now with the M5 inlet. Black....and all looked good on the one I returned.
