Some of these design innovations make me think the pillory and public flogging should be brought back to society.

My van has a fender brace right behind the headlight bulb on 1 side. It's not a quick bulb change.

You just know it's gonna go out too............ Yep, I was glad that my Legacy sedan was a fleet vehicle, I let them pay to have someone else install the bulb. I've posted this before, but, to swap out bulbs on my '11 Super Duty you have to remove the entire grill to get to the bolts that allow you to just swing the assembly out and easily change the bulb.

I replaced the headlamps on the daughter's 2011 and my wifes 2012 many times. I was out of town and both bulbs blew, so my wife took it to the dealer. Surprisingly they did it for free because there is a voluntary recall. The next car they wanted paid, then I brought up the recall, and zing it was free again. Supposedly there is some electrical gremlin that blows out all the lamps. My 2014 has a tail lamp out now. At lunch I am getting a bulb. http://www.smart-service.com/blog/2016/08/free-subaru-headlight-replacement

The way they build some of this crap, the factory ought to reimburse the dealer to replace every such item for free to the customer... why don't the idiots design it better so something simple like a bulb replacement, is Well SIMPLE...

I had a 2003 Outback that would go thru headlights like there was no tomorrow. I tried all kinds of aftermarket bulbs to no avail. None lasted more then a few months. I eneded up just buying oem Subaru and changing them out every couple of thousand miles. I could never ever get a straight answer from the Dealer

I put a LED in the tail lamp in my Suby and I also just put one in my truck. Same brightness, but we will see how long they last.

Co worker's Malibu needed the front bumper removed, dealer replaced both sides at once. GM should make newly hired car designers work at a dealership and replace headlight

Surprised to hear this about Subaru. I have always been pleased by how well repairs go on mine. Things are engineered to be fixed. Gotta love the spin on granny filter, fuel filter that is under the hood and only need a screwdriver. And the oil/filter change without jacking up the car.
But then, I have never owned one made this century.

My wife's sister owns one of the Korean "Chevy" crossover things. It was such a pain in the ass to change one headlight I changed them both while I had the tools out and it was in my memory how to put it back together.
