looking at hunting Ireland and was curious what kind of clothing I will need. Don't have access to the brands they use in Scotland and Ireland (ie Harkilla, Blaser, Laksen, and seeland) temps of the 50's and rainy during hunting season. Any cableas/midwayUSA parallels? thanks

That's good advice from a stalking pro.

How many restraining orders do you have, is it five or six now?

And here I thought you were back on your game for a couple posts. Then up you go and tank with this one. Weak at best.

I'd wear what I wear here in same kind of weather.

Unless you have to look the part too.

Is European hunting similar to golf with a dress code?

I wouldn't doubt it.

It kind of is. I had to wear a sport coat when I pheasant hunted over there. Some guys were wearing ties when bird hunting. THey frowned on wearing camo patterns when hunting because camo was associated with military only but that what I was told and that was 15 years ago. Maybe Europeans have embraced sitka gear etc. now

If I would be fortunate enough to participate in a well run European high Pheasant/Grouse shoot, I would be more than willing to follow the traditions they find appropriate. To do other wise would be similar to them coming over here and thinking those who use auto-loaders and pump shotguns are hunters they don't care to be associated with.

However, it does seem they have come to accept more camo with regards big game. Which doesn't seem to be the case with driven/rough shooting.

Sounds like hunting there would be similar to a trip to the clay range for me. I'm the guy in a snap front work shirt carrying a beat up autoloader....

Where I bird hunted in England and Scotland pumps and auto loaders were prohibited by the clubs

Please do a google search for - loden - it is always in good taste and is quite acceptable for European hunting.

I'm starting to understand why the Pilgrims broke camp and came west.
