Hello all,
About fifteen years ago I was given a stainless steel Ruger 10/22. I don't remember for sure, but I believe when I bought it, it was a rifle/scope combo. Scope was silver and matched the SS. Eventually I took the scope and mounts off and gave to a friend to use while I used open sights. Unfortunately, I never got those back and now I'd like to scope it again as I have a different .22 for open sights. Does anyone know what scope and mounts would have come with the package back then? I'd like to return it to the condition it was in when I first bought it.
Thanks, Mike

I believe the SS bolt guns might have been packaged with a silver Simmons at one point. The model....?

I've got a silver Simmons on a stainless 10/22 purchased about 15 years ago. Cheap scope. If I was buying again today, I'd put a better blued scope on it and not worry about matching it color wise. The Simmons was mounted to please a new shooter that thought it should match the rifle.

I have three Simmons 22 Mag 3-9x32 scopes. Bought the first one for $25 at a pawn shop. The second, that someone had adjusted the parallax to 10 yards, I got for $10. And recently, got a silver one brand new with the fast focus eyepiece at the Gander closeout for $20.
Obviously I like them. And have used them on various 22's and pellet guns with zero complaints. They are lightweight (about 10 ounces), have a durable finish, and clear glass. And as a set it and forget it scope, they hold zero well. And have held up to the abuse of a fairly powerful spring air rifle with no troubles.
I believe usual retail is about $40, or $60 for the AO model.

Thanks for all your replies everyone. I'm thinking it might have been a Simmons as well. I'm pretty sure it was one of their 4x32 models. Took quite a beating while I had it and never had a problem. I wouldn't mount it on a centerfire, but it worked great on my .22. Guess I'll look for one of the older models. Current production is in China, but older models made in the Philippines / Japan seem to have been of higher quality. Curious as to how hard it will be to find an older model....

I just won a Ruger 10/22 International Stainless/Laminate off a pull board and it came with an old silver Simmons 4x32. They're nice little scopes for plinkers and squirrel killing.
When I die I hope I don't start voting democrat.
