now to scope it or not is the question and see what it really will do? Let the kid learn to shoot thru irons, don't worry about what the gun will do and let him learn what he can do. Scopes are easy, too easy. I know too many guys who shoot very well with scoped rifles but really suck shooting iron sights.

Oh I am and HE said he wants to keep it just irons. I can get into the accuracy thing and bypass having fun sometimes. Maybe this rifle will slow me down some on that. Guess when I saw the accuracy potential the rifle had I got excited and wanted to ring it out. I agree with you and enjoy shooting irons,as I haven’t barring handguns, for a long time.

Great post! I still have, and shoot, the BL-22 my dad gave me for Christmas back in 1972. The iron sights are a little harder to see than they used to, but it's still an amazingly accurate rifle. Really having a hard time putting a scope on it, even though that would help me shoot it better. Great rifle!

I was really impressed with all that blued steel on mine. Didn't notice the polymer inner receiver until I got home.
Doesn't seem to matter. It is a lot of fun to shoot.

I got my BL22 when I went from grade school to jr high. I know it’s not a million round though it but it sure seems like it. The bluing is worn off the receiver. I’m 54 now and still squirrel hunting with it. I have never ran a cleaning rod through it. I shoot CB’s and subsonics through it. Every now and then I will fire some Stingers through it to “clean it out”. Still shoots really well.

My dream rifle when I was a kid. Ended up with an SA-22 though. I still have a soft spot for one.

Hmm, Stingers - are they "Cleaning out" the bore, or chamber?!?
Seen jacketed bullets remove lead in a revolver leaded with cast.....but trying to understand what and how a Stinger cleans out a rifle.
