Just saw a post over on RimfireCentral where the poster was claiming that Ruger, thru the TALO distribution channels would be offering a #1 in 22LR. My hope sored. I'd be on that like stink on fecal material.
Alas, there was some additional research and it appears that the online reference contains MISPRINTS. Can you believe it . . . .

If only that were true.
Wonder what the minimum order would need to be for a special run, distributor/dealer exclusive? At one time I heard that a dealerin Michigan talked to Ruger about making a limited run of the RAR in 450 Bushmaster. IIRC the number was 500. Dealer ordered and took delivery of 500+. Seems they went over pretty well - Ruger catalogs them now!

I've long hoped that they would come up with a smaller-framed model, not just for rimfires, but also some of the smaller CFs, but the odds against that are stratospheric. The Number 1 is just too big for such stuff, IMHO.
About $1200 will get you a Low Wall, which is scaled more in line with the rimfire stuff. Some look very trim indeed with skinny octagonal barrels. Wood is generally plain, though.

There was a gunsmith in Canton, Pennsylvania (now deceased) by the name of Jack Korzinek whose specialty was converting Ruger #1's & #3's to .22 RF and .22 Magnum. It might be worthwhile searching for one of these rifles, I knew Jack and can vouch for his work he did quality work and had quite a following amoung .22 target shooters.

I had purchased a Ruger NO1 action and stock set with a 22lr in mind. Then I handled one....large for 22lr... then I found a Win 1885 Low Wall in 22lr.
Easy choice , even being a NO1 fan. Sold my parts
Check out the Winchester , it just feels better in my hands

I never handled a Korzinek converted #1 but agree that a #1 is a pretty big rifle for a .22. The Winchester Low Wall is much better suited, I had an original Low Wall .22 Short that I relined to .22LR and restored the wood and metal.

Ones like yours are fairly common on Gunbroker, either relined or rebarreled, and at surprisingly low prices. I'd want to see one in person before plunking down cash unless the seller was well-known.
A lot of Winders out there too if shorts will do.
