I bought a Sako L-61, Bofors Barrel, Serial # 34,000 range, on GunBroker a little while ago for 490.00. It’s a 30-06, good condition, original condition.
I wasn’t expecting to get it for that.

IMO the pre-Garcia guns we’re always a great value for the $’s. As with a lot of other guns the market has softened....

Hanco,
Agreed that you overpaid some. Since you are a friend, I will give you $485 so you don't. Take too big of a loss 😄

485.00 sounds good. I bet it doesn’t shoot as good as the 7 mag you sold me. That rifle is amazingly accurate.
Thanks again
I bid 500.00, was just fooling around. Surprised to get it.

I bid 500.00, was just fooling around. Surprised to get it. You might be surprised. Use a combo of JB Bore Paste/Kroil on bronze brushes. Give the barrel 50 strokes or so and change out your brush. Clean till you get almost no color on a patch. Then swab some wipe-out/patch-out or Sweets down the barrel with a soaked patch. Leave 15 minutes and see if there is any blue (indication of copper fouling in the barrel). If any blue, do the 50 stroke bronze patch drill again, then clean. Do this until you have the barrel down to bare metal. You can also take a dowel and wrap in 80 grit sandpaper and free-float the barrel channel. I sometimes will use tin-foil shims or poster board shims between the action and stock if the steel shims are not there. In over 2 dozen Sakos, I've not had any that did not have a manufacturing defect that I could not get to shoot sub inch at 100 yds with my hand loads, 220 swift to 375 H & H. ya! GWB

Nice. I can't tell you the number of 375 H&H Safari Grade Sako's I have held and came within a gnats hair of buying. One of their finest rifles IMHO.

My first "triple" on hogs was with my Sako AV in 375 H &H. Sitting in a ground blind and lined them up. One of three. (This was so long ago that I still had hair on my head!) ya! GWB

This is the four L-61 rifles I have now. I used to have a couple deluxe’s and a three mannlicher’s. A 270, 7mag, a pair of 264’s in pic.

Sometimes Lady Luck smiles on you, hanco. Congrats. Was happy to arrange the purchase and sale of an exquisite Sako .375 H&H between 2 good friends last week. Now they each have a new friend.

This AV in .25-06 is now my only Sako. It groups Barnes TTSX 100 grain factory well under an inch. It's a candidate for the March pig hunt. Bob
