Thinking of getting an electronic call this year, and working on whatever is thinning the turkey population at the lease. There's coons, foxes, and bobcats, and a lion was seen there a few years ago. I also may go after some yotes later this spring.

Any recommendations, on something moderate in cost that is still effective? Thanks!

I’ll just say I have a fox pro, as do several of my friends. They work well in terms of reliability, battery life, and sound quality. Whether they bring in predators, depends a lot on you.

Not sure what you call moderate, but I just got a Lucky Duck Revolt at 299. Been out a total of 3 times, 1 stand each time. So far I've called 2 bobcats and 3(maybe4?) coyotes. It's a hair larger than the fopxpro models but sounds much better and louder than the low to moderate priced foxpros owned by others I've hunted with. The sound library is great.

The Lucky Duck Revolt will probably be my next call. I have a Foxpro Fusion now, and will keep it. If your budget does not allow for the Lucky Duck, the Primos Alpha Dog is a great value for the money. Just make sure to test it as soon as you get it. It has a built in stand, color remote, categorized sounds and learning hunt sequences. It can frequently be found on sale for under $179.

Just bought a foxpro inferno. Got it for $179 new on amazon. They normally list for 199 most everywhere. Very nice call for the money. Comes with 75 sounds, can hold 200. Remote is easy to use

Ruger Ihunt is only $45, and comes with the App for your phone. Mine has called in several coyotes.

There is no best. FoxPro makes the best quality caller, but their budget callers are pretty abysmal in sound quality and volume. Lucky Duck, Western Rivers, and even Icotec have sound libraries that put FoxPro to shame.

Lucky Duck makes budget call called the Rebel.... It has 12 preset sounds with no capability to change or add sounds..... But it uses a 10xAA speaker, and has the ability to play two sounds at once. It sounds amazing, and has crazy volume. The 12 sounds are Rick Paillet sounds, and are a very good base set of sounds. It also hs a very good built in decoy, and a crazy good remote range.

Low cost and extremely effective, get you a open Reed crit'R Call peewee.

I have a FoxPro that works good with a separate decoy that attaches to the FPro by way of auxiliary cable. $499.00 Not a bargain. If I was buying a new caller it would be a Lucky Dog Revolt. Everything I’ve read about these callers has been outstanding. Hard to find in stock right now though.

I just had to send my Lucky Duck Revolution back to Rick. It has given me issues since I have had it. Granted, I had one of the first ones out....Rick Paillet has been great to work with, but I think I just got a lemon. After replacing the soundboard, Remote, antenna, and SD Card, it just wasnt right.....

I now have a brand new Revolt in return, and I am pretty excited about getting a chance to play with it.

I like FoxPro because of their customer service, and the good service I've gotten there. But, you really don't need a 100 different calls, or more, to call in critters. The calling technique, and where you set up, are the things that will help you call something in.

Foxpro's are fantastic. I have used Primos before with good results but the remotes didn't seem to be as reliable as the Foxpro's but the Primo's was quite a bit less expensive.

They are supposed to be in stock on their website 11/12/18.

I have looked all over the web for one, with no luck.

Foxpro's customer service is excellent. I'm currently using the Fusion for predators and crows and find it to be a great call.

My Foxpro FX3 is put to use every winter for the past 12+ years and just plain works.

Fox pro makes a cheaper version called the deadbone I think is the name,
It uses the early fox pro electronics but it works as well as any fox pro
They are not able to upload new sounds

Just got my old Foxpro XR 16 up and running, again. Don't know how long I've had that thing - but it's been "parked for at least 2 years, due to other issues colliding with my calling time.
Maybe this is the time I get to play!

They had them on their website (Lucky Duck) for a few days, then when I started to order one, they were out of stock again. But not this time, thanks again, got one on the way. Ain't much on yotes, getting this mostly for coons, but I'm sure there is some coyote hunting in my near future.

Forgot to mention, I talked to the people at lucky duck, and they did tell me they were filling all their orders before selling them on their website. I wanted to get it from Cabelas because I had points and no cash needed, so now I will have to find something else to spend my points on. Already replaced my card.

Yes.

Yes for the most part, BUT the Revolt has 4 channels that allows a guy to operate up to 4 different Revolts with one remote at the same time. I guess guys in the waterfowl hunting world use this feature, I don't see where it would ever be used in the predator calling world.
The early Revolutions had a slightly different remote also, but if you buy a new Revolution today, they come with the updated remote control that also comes with the Revolt.

My Revolt arrived a couple days ago and its definitely bigger than the foxpro and LOUDER. I think the coyotes will like it.

I have a Shockwave and it works for me as I love the remote. Just hunting 3 days in Nebraska with a Revolt and I really liked it. He has better sounds than FoxPro IMHO.

A good value is an icotec 500 or a 320. They sound very good for the money.

Can you use any Bluetooth speaker and audio loaded to your phone? I have a couple waterproof speakers that put out decent volume. Thinking downloaded audio tracks on my phone would work instead of purchasing a Foxpro type setup?

It will work...but nowhere near as well as a purpose built device. You would be far better off with a mouth call.

I’d think speaker quality would be better with a Bose speaker. Is it the sounds available?

Volume, for one. Volume is more important than sound quality. Another is the simple fact that the caller is designed for the purpose at hand, not adapted. Remote range, sound library, battery life, decoy operation, intuitive remote, etc....are all factors.

I have tried what you are recommending, and while it will work, its a very poor substitute for the real thing.

I’ve got a Foxpro Fusion and audio quality isn’t exactly what anyone would consider hi-fi.

I like your idea to Bluetooth from your phone to a quality speaker. The only issue I see will be range, particularly where you want the call farther from you than Bluetooth will allow.

Kingston- I was thinking that would be the big limiting factor. Have never tested how far I can stream to a speaker? I’ll play around with it this afternoon if it stops pissing rain.
