Well here we go again, the rich boys are trying to back door us again, this time they want to make it illegal to access the rivers from PUBLIC road bridges. Bill sponsered in the house by a republican rep from Billings. Call your local Reps and start screaming. On a positive note there is another bill that just passed in the Senate that would require landowners to provide public access off of bridges if they fence up to them. We need to support this one. Get on the phone, this is the real deal.

My feeling is that if the state is the one who monitors water quality, fish habitat, and all the things that go with that; and it is taxpayer funded then the taxpayer should have the right to use the resource. We had a similar thing here years ago. here was a small lake that is entirely surrounded by private land, except for one small chunk that was under town right of way along the road by the outlet. The lake was getting stocked by the state and the lake association was kicking people off under threat of trespass. Our local sportsman's club contacted fish& game and public access was granted.
Bet the rep. sponsoring the bill is getting funds from these landowners.

Thx for the heads up this is one we gotta get behind for sure.
It about drives me nutso to be kept away from good land that the public owns via the land gods.
