See what happens when I say I'm thinking about collecting all the 30-30's? Let's try for 38-55's and 32-40's next!

I agree Don. I think the saddle rings were bought by working guys for the most part. Don't forget that the West was still there and cars were just a dream for the most part while the SRC's were being sold. Cowboys and ranchers were still living on their horses a good majority of the time, there was good extra money to be made trapping and hunting, and a short carbine fit the bill.

That is a great point. I would just add: SRC's went out in 19. Horses weren't just essential in the western states before 1919, most people here in the east especially the ones not living in cities that were in need of rifles spent most of their travelling time on horseback or horse drawn wagon before 1919. Believe it or not, there was still unsettled wilderness here in the east with people trying to carve out a basic subsistence existence. Saddles, scabbards, horses and weather are hard on working rifles. Which makes an SRC still in good condition a very rare and valuable find

coodawg,
Not in the market but I loved your forthright, honest description with plenty of photos. I wish I was buying as you seem to be someone worth doing business with.

Thanks again! Thanks! I'm glad you like it. Both the 1899B's I sold were super nice. I kinda miss seeing them hanging on the wall.
