To get way from the other thread. How much snow cover do you have? How thick is the ice on the lakes?
How cold is it?

50 F and raining here in the Fraser Valley, dead center of normal winter weather.

We've had one day since Christmas that it did not rain. Wishing for some tracking snow low on the nearby mountains but the freezing level is too high. We had heavy freezing rain ice storms between Christmas and new Year's with ice 3 inches thick on the other end of town but it only got an inch thick here.

We hit 50 F today. I don't know if this is a record but it is, by far, the warmest day in early Feb I've seen in the twenty seven years I've been here. Nice day. Called my son and it's roughly ren below and snowing at his place. I felt bad (not!). GD

average snowfall, -54 F here this morning. We've had lots of brutally cold weather this winter. Coldest in a few years for sure. Northen BC is getting a ton of snow as well.

Yep, we have gotten a fair bit of snow the last few weeks. It's about -6 C right now and snowing again, we didn't have too much of a snow pack until recently. On average it's been a colder winter this year with a few warmer periods as well.

Wabigoon, do you agree that when we were kids — circa mid-twentieth century or so 😮 — we did get a lot more snow generally than presently? Of course, all is not lost — we still get the wind and cold.

Here in SE Alberta we are looking at -25 (-37 WC) tonight. Already about 6 inches of snow with a couple more coming.
Would be more but we recently had a Chinook that melted the 7-8 inches we had.

a little bit of that sneaking through the Crowsnest pass tonight so, after the exceptionally warm day the temp has dropped by 17C and we've gotten a dusting of snow. Oh well, it's winter in the Rockies. GD

We got about a foot and a half of snow Friday, and now under an extreme cold warming. -33 this morning.

We're pretty similar to what Troutfly is getting. Yesterday Deerfoot trail (highway 2 through Calgary) was closed in both directions due to poor visibility and horrible road conditions. First time I recall this happening.

My daughters lives in Grand Prairie and they had -50 C with wind chill a couple of days ago.

It says it's -49 with windchill this morning. Anyone for a polar bear swim?

Our daffodil and tulip shoots are more than 2 inches high and apple tree is starting to bud. Rain has eased to a drizzle at the moment here in Fraser Valley, and the temp has dropped to a below normal 47 F. Sure wish we would get a skiff of snow that would show cat tracks.

Today is a beautiful day after all the recent snow, expecting more snow moving in tomorrow. This is what it looks like out the front window right now.

It looks as though your curiosity in regards to snow, is pretty much satisfied Gerry.

We have had enough for a while now but more is coming. I lived in the snow belt just outside of town for years and they probably have double that on the ground right now. It's amazing how just a few kilometers can make a difference when it comes to snow.

Yeah, everyone comments on the difference in climate on either side of the tunnel east of Elko or even just on the east side of the river/lake compared to the western side. GD

Lots of snow coming down right now. You guys in Northern Alberta seem to be getting pounded pretty good with it moving through Calgary and over my way in Redcliff over the next 24hrs or so! Gonna be a nasty drive in the AM to work. Supposed to be there for 0500hrs........might take a while to get there as it's 50km one way.
Sure hope we get a good dump actually, then a nice slow melt to fill the duck sloughs!

Be safe out there guys!
